Which name do you prefer? :)

I like them both a lot. I probably prefer Julia, but it's a close thing.

Joy is a bit of a gamble. What happens if she's a right misery? (like a Joy that I know)

SoftBlocks · 02/11/2018 16:03

Julia

LarkDescending · 02/11/2018 16:06

Julia. Classic, elegant, timeless.

I possibly know the same Joy as JeremyCorbynsBeard Grin

NannyR · 02/11/2018 16:08

I love both names - Julia is timeless and elegant, Joy is lovely too, both not too common but not too unusual.

BewareOfDragons · 02/11/2018 16:13

Julia.

E20mom · 02/11/2018 16:20

Julia.

Someone called Joy will get it held against them every time they're not super happy.

Pemba · 02/11/2018 16:29

Julia - lovely, classic, well known yet reasonably unusual. Joy is OK but doesn't compare.

Pieceofpurplesky · 02/11/2018 16:48

Julia.
Joy is not a nice name. I taught one a few years again and she really wasn't a joy at all.
You may also want to check out Joy Juice on urban dictionary - it was this girls nickname and not pleasant.

ladycarlotta · 02/11/2018 18:02

Both lovely. I've got a real soft spot for Joy, but Julia is really elegant and classic.

SingaSong12 · 02/11/2018 18:03

Julia

JungDisciple · 02/11/2018 18:05

I love Joy, nearly DD's middle name but I wouldn't have been brave enough to use it for a first name for the precise reason that whenever she had a (legitimate ) reason to be annoyed, she'd be told off! She'd feel she could never express any discontent or disatisfaction. I love Giulia / Julia as well.

SlowlyShrinking · 02/11/2018 18:06

Julia is a beautiful name. I’m not keen on joy though

FogCutter · 02/11/2018 18:08

Julia. Beautiful name.

JungDisciple · 02/11/2018 18:10

Corr nothing like a bit of bias there pieceofpurplesky

''I knew one once and I didn't like her''. We could all say that about a name.

SuperstarDJ · 02/11/2018 18:26

I really like Joy.

Not keen on Julia but love Juliet.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/11/2018 18:27

Julia

Whiskeyjar · 02/11/2018 18:48

My DD is called Julia. Named after the Beatles song which I have sung to her since she was a newborn

Moominfan · 02/11/2018 18:49

I love them both so can see the struggle

Glumglowworm · 02/11/2018 19:45

I like Joy

StripyDeckchair · 02/11/2018 19:46

I love, love, love Julia.

RedDwarves · 02/11/2018 20:21

Julia.

I've only know one Joy and she was a miserable sodding cow of a woman, so I think it's too risky a name (also it seems very outdated to me). Whereas Julia is lovely.

Sophronia · 02/11/2018 20:28

Julia

YeOldeTrout · 02/11/2018 20:35

I like both!

parrotonmyshoulder · 02/11/2018 20:38

I feel they’re quite different names.
Both great.
But could you please compromise and use Gloria. I love it!
