Julia or Joy?

Which name do you prefer? :)

I like them both a lot. I probably prefer Julia, but it's a close thing.

Joy is a bit of a gamble. What happens if she's a right misery? (like a Joy that I know)

I love both names - Julia is timeless and elegant, Joy is lovely too, both not too common but not too unusual.

Someone called Joy will get it held against them every time they're not super happy.

Julia - lovely, classic, well known yet reasonably unusual. Joy is OK but doesn't compare.

Joy is not a nice name. I taught one a few years again and she really wasn't a joy at all.
You may also want to check out Joy Juice on urban dictionary - it was this girls nickname and not pleasant.

Both lovely. I've got a real soft spot for Joy, but Julia is really elegant and classic.

I love Joy, nearly DD's middle name but I wouldn't have been brave enough to use it for a first name for the precise reason that whenever she had a (legitimate ) reason to be annoyed, she'd be told off! She'd feel she could never express any discontent or disatisfaction. I love Giulia / Julia as well.

My DD is called Julia. Named after the Beatles song which I have sung to her since she was a newborn

I've only know one Joy and she was a miserable sodding cow of a woman, so I think it's too risky a name (also it seems very outdated to me). Whereas Julia is lovely.
