Too common imo and the names joined together looks daft.sorry!

RavenWings · 01/11/2018 08:55

Lol.

No. Silly and twee.

HavelockVetinari · 01/11/2018 08:57

Awful (sorry) Sad

Madbengalmum · 01/11/2018 08:58

No,just no.

mamapud · 01/11/2018 09:00

Not my cup of tea, I'm not keen having mae/Mai hyphenated as a name I think it's common and sorry if I offend anyone but a bit chavvy.

NC4Now · 01/11/2018 09:00

I’m not overly keen but if you like it, I’d spell it Lily-May or at a push Lily-Mae.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 01/11/2018 09:01

I think you might be asking the wrong demographic here on MN

NC4Now · 01/11/2018 09:01

Actually, I’d treat them as separate names.
Lily May Surname.

CherryPavlova · 01/11/2018 09:04

Common. Sorry. Lily is nice but better to have Elizabeth that has Lily as a diminutive. Mae is a life jacket and Americanism.
I’m afraid you’ll be doing her no favours and people will make assumptions because of her name.

Dlux · 01/11/2018 09:04

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut word

BertramKibbler · 01/11/2018 09:06

I’m not sure you’ll find anyone on Mumsnet that likes it and yet it is VERY popular.

If you’re not sure then it’s not the name for your daughter, move on!

Daysofpearlyspencer · 01/11/2018 09:07

Lily allways (no pun intended) reminds me of San pro and with Mae just contrived and silly

DeltaFlyer · 01/11/2018 09:09

It's very overused

NotUmbongoUnchained · 01/11/2018 09:10

Mumsnets full of snobs remember. It an entirely normal name. I know 5 of them.

Workreturner · 01/11/2018 09:10

Character from eastenders

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/11/2018 09:10

Please don’t. There’s loads of them spelt different ways, both Lily and May/Mae are wildly overused, it’ll date quickly and tbh I think it’s a bit chavvy (though I know I’m not meant to say that)

Workreturner · 01/11/2018 09:11

Is that meant to encourage the OP to choose the name?

AfterSchoolWorry · 01/11/2018 09:12

It peaked about 5 years ago.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 01/11/2018 09:13

work why not? I also know several Elizabeth’s and Samuels etc which are names mumsnet love because they’re not seen as “chav” or “working class” or “council”.

SuburbanRhonda · 01/11/2018 09:14

I know 5 of them.

Hmm
Moominfan · 01/11/2018 09:18

Really twee and wet

Livingloving · 01/11/2018 09:23

Not keen on the way you are spelling it.

Love50 · 01/11/2018 09:25

If you both like it then fine. It’s a name. All names are made up really!

quarterpast · 01/11/2018 09:28

Try and imagine your child as a fully grown adult and not just a cute little baby. It's horribly overused and normally butchered (where I am anyway) by being pronounced Li-lay normally bellowed across the playground. It's really common and overused and even worse when combined with May/Mae/Mai.

lunar1 · 01/11/2018 09:30

Variations of that name are extremely common in my sons school so I guess it depends if that bothers you. I'm probably biased against because lost of the parents I know who chose that name would rather their daughters be princesses than people.
