What does everyone think of Lillymae?
DP suggested it, I'm not too sure
Thanks!

I prefer Lily with Mae as a middle name.

CookPassBabtridge · 01/11/2018 12:16

My friend has a Lilly-Mae and it's lovely, there are a lot of Lilys around so it's nice to have a different one.

CookPassBabtridge · 01/11/2018 12:18

Babynames is one of the only places on here that I can't relate to real life. It's so snobby.

MemoryOfSleep · 01/11/2018 12:28

I just hear Cletus from the Simpsons. "Lily-Mae! Git yer ma! Dem pigs done escaped agen!"

That's just the association I make though. I don't know why. So personally, I wouldn't choose it, but if you love the name there are far worse out there.

peachypetite · 01/11/2018 12:28

What's with the ridiculous spelling? I'm

Sophronia · 01/11/2018 13:08

I’d spell it Lily May.

Hunlife · 01/11/2018 13:16

Being perfectly honest I really dislike any name with a hyphenated 'Mae' in it and this looks even worse.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 01/11/2018 13:29

Separately both names are lovely but I do think it's common to have "joint" names like that.

Haworthia · 01/11/2018 13:31

Purely because there are billions of girls called Lily/Lilly May/Mae/Mai (with or without hyphens) it’s a no from me.

Creepyexgirlfriend · 01/11/2018 13:31

Hill Billy tastic.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 01/11/2018 13:33

@Creepyexgirlfriend hit the nail on the head there

RavenLG · 01/11/2018 13:38

Lily alone is nice

Lilymae is vile and chavvy.

Another2day · 01/11/2018 14:06

Lily is also overdone imo.

Tuesday811 · 01/11/2018 15:20

Thanks all! Maybe not Lillymae then 🙈
Other options are Ally, Leah and Hadley, thoughts on these?

OP posts:
Icklepup · 01/11/2018 15:24

I like Allie

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 01/11/2018 15:26

You’ll get ripped apart for those too @Tuesday811

Try Margot, Clemmie, Isobel or Evelyn for a less insufferable reaction.

moredoll · 01/11/2018 15:33

I prefer Lily or Mae.

Sexnotgender · 01/11/2018 15:34

Ally is ok, however with that spelling it would probably be pronounced Al-eye. Allie would give you Al-ee if that’s what you’re after?
Leah is nice.
Hadley is awful.

moredoll · 01/11/2018 15:35

I like Hadley

not keen on Leah
don't like Allie unless it's a nn for Alice, Alison, Alyssia.

MadameButterface · 01/11/2018 15:41

what is Allie short for? Alexandra is nice. you don't get many little Allies so would be quite unusual. Leah's alright, it doesn't set my world on fire, but it's inoffensive. not keen on Hadley as it's a bit surnamey.

but really yr on a hiding to nothing asking on here. no matter what the name, people will either think it's chavvy, overused, boring or tryhard. My dd has a 'tryhard' name and my ds has not one but two 'dogs' names', I dgaf and neither do either of them. you do you and enjoy your baby is my advice.

daisypond · 01/11/2018 15:48

I like Leah, and I also like Hadley. I'm not so keen on Allie as it feels like it should be short for something - Alexa, Alexandra, Alison, etc.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/11/2018 15:48

Hadley buys into that whole American surname as first name vibe. It sounds like a boy's name too.

Allie I would assume is short for Alison?

MaisyPops · 01/11/2018 15:57

Lily is lovely
May/Mae is lovely

Together it seems awkward and a bit chavvy sounding.

Much as some on MN like to pretend names don't develop associations, they do.

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 01/11/2018 16:00

Lillymae - horrible

I like Leah though. Hadley is nice too.

How about Harper?

LucyMorningStar · 01/11/2018 16:30

Lilymae (anything Mae/Mai/May) makes me think of tracksuits and big hoop earrings.

Allie is cute. What would it be short for? I personally like Aliana and Alina.

Leah is not bad. Hadley is interesting enough without being obscure.
