We like Phoebe, but know a couple already. Like the "F" sound though.

The name IS real, albeit unusual one, but I see it's too contentious.

Big, Fat Greek Wedding offers this.

Fotoula (Φωτούλα) not Fatoula. Fotoula is a diminutive of Fotini (Φωτεινή) which means brilliant, bright usually. It could be a diminutive of Theofano though (Θεοφανώ) altough this is an extremely rare name.

You might like Persephone with the 'f' sound in the middle? Pronounced Per-sef-on-ee.

Pretty. I've heard of that. But I bet I'll have to keep explaining how to pronounce it?

I think most are familiar with it. Maybe you could ask others here and get a general idea? I also think Percy/ ie is a nice shortening.

phucit · 30/10/2018 15:39

You are constantly going to be explaining how to pronounce Phelonie the way you want it pronounced anyway

user34903583908 · 30/10/2018 15:43

You're right phucit as my pronounciation would not be what most people would do. Hmm. PHOOD for thought here!

I think I'll draw up a list of PH/F names leaving Phelonie (sigh - sounds so pretty to my ear) out and take if from there.

There's always Ffion. You could spell it Phphion. Grin

DotForShort · 30/10/2018 15:58

True, true. Though I know something about one of the most popular names at the moment. I suspect it's kind of niche though. I mentioned it once and no-one knew what I was on about.

Were you the one who started that odd thread about the name Olivia?

Flamingosnbears · 30/10/2018 16:06

Philomena is much better and a lot easier to live with

Worriedmummybekind · 30/10/2018 16:24

I immediately thought Felony. Sorry

MrsRubyMonday · 30/10/2018 16:27

What about Leonie? Lee-own-ee. Similar to the pronunciation you like but without the crime reference.

WhyOhWine · 30/10/2018 16:36

@user34903583908 why not felicity? If you like the ph noise

gendercritter · 30/10/2018 18:26

Phphion Grin

hiddeneverything · 30/10/2018 19:33

As in, like, crime???

ThanksItHasPockets · 30/10/2018 19:53

‘Phelonie’ really sounds like a drag act.

Phelonie and Miss Dee Meener.

starzig · 30/10/2018 20:31

Reminds me of phenols.

hello1233 · 30/10/2018 20:41

God no. Just call her criminal and have done with it.

And pronouncing it with a long o rhymes with baloney.

Not good

arranfan · 30/10/2018 20:45

Reminds me of phenols.

Polyphenols - feenie for short.

starzig · 30/10/2018 21:01

I quite like Polly though.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 30/10/2018 21:16

Phief

TatianaLarina · 30/10/2018 21:16

Philomène.

Heratnumber7 · 30/10/2018 21:20

Would you consider names beginning with F?
There is no difference in sound between Ph and F

NicoAndTheNiners · 30/10/2018 21:24

If they join the army and get promoted enough they could be Major Felony. I like it! Grin
