Could this name suit a girl? What is your opinion?

Eh nope.......I don’t mind unusual names like Xanthe, Iona, Juno but spencer is a blokes name .....it’s not like George which can be cute female or male

Glumglowworm · 26/10/2018 20:27

No

It’s a boys name

I really don’t understand why you’d want your daughter to spend her whole life explaining that she’s a girl, because everyone will assume she’s a boy.

Goostacean · 26/10/2018 20:27

No, I don’t think so, sorry. Plus, Marks and... or Lady Diana... Nah, not my cup of tea.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/10/2018 20:27

No.awful.

tierraJ · 26/10/2018 20:27

Nope

spacefighter · 26/10/2018 20:28

I like it. Reminds me of PLL.

greendale17 · 26/10/2018 20:28

No, it is a boys name

tierraJ · 26/10/2018 20:28

Think Spencer Matthews- a man

FluffyMcCloud · 26/10/2018 20:29

It worked in Pretty Little Liars!

AuntieStella · 26/10/2018 20:30

No, squarely a boys name

Dljlr · 26/10/2018 20:31

No, but Taylor works

LordDavos · 26/10/2018 20:31

Clearly none of you have watched pretty little liars Grin

I like it, but then I like androgynous girls names. Can’t bear twee girly names.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 26/10/2018 20:34

No. Or rather if you do choose it, you’re setting yourself and your daughter up for a lifetime of annoyance over their name.

RoseAndRose · 26/10/2018 20:34

I don't think one US TV series is going to make any serious inroads in to how a name is seen in UK.

Definitely a boy

Usuallytootiredbuthappyanyway · 26/10/2018 20:34

I like it quite a lot!

dizzydaisies · 26/10/2018 20:35

I like it! And it's not such a new name either, I was in school with a girl called Spencer around 20+ years ago.

twattymctwatterson · 26/10/2018 20:36

Is Iona considered unusual?

ChicagoLil · 26/10/2018 20:38

What about Sydney for a girl? I know someone who called their child that

userabcname · 26/10/2018 20:42

Yes! Love!

KatnissMellark · 26/10/2018 20:44

No

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 26/10/2018 20:45

Yep, I think I prefer it for a girl, it’s very dated for a boy, I’m 47 and had 3 in my school year.

blondeemily · 26/10/2018 20:45

I actually quite like it

RedDwarves · 26/10/2018 20:53

Reminds me of PLL. It works in that, but I think a Spencer in the UK would always be assumed to be a boy.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 26/10/2018 20:59

Love it!

(Check out my NN, OP!)

AlliKaneErikson · 27/10/2018 00:37

I’ve taught a girl called Spenser (yes, with an ‘s’) but am not a fan.
