Hi, just wondering what people think of these names and which you prefer? Does Jonah still have the connotations of an unlucky person do you think?

I love both! I've never heard of Jonah being unlucky. Jonah has always been a favourite of mine but now I may slightly prefer Jonas because of Jonah's growing popularity!
Lovely names 😊

Love Jonah! I don't like the end of Jonas as it makes me think of the word anus Blush

I LOVE the name Jonah. My baby boy is due next week and it is the current front runner. I am a bit put off by the bad luck thing, but I've actually only heard about the unlucky thing on here so I'm hoping it won't be the first people most people think of. The actual meaning is 'dove' which is lovely.

P.S made a thread about this earlier in the week if it's helpful - hardly anyone mentioned bad luck - most responses were really positive :)

Jonah or Samuel? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3402368-Jonah-or-Samuel

Jonas is loads nicer. Yes, Jonah means a "jinx", so it would definitely put me off.

I much prefer Jonah.

Jonas = Jonas brothers. And it just sounds a bit clunky and not very nice IMO.

Jonah makes me think of a cool, surfer boy. I've never heard of it being unlucky.

Agree about the anus comment.
