Hi,
Expecting a baby boy in November--any thoughts on the name Herbert? I quite like it, so does my husband.
Any opinions?
Thanks

I’m sure I saw another Herbert thread yesterday or something. I quite like it, Herbie is cute for a child and Herb is cool for an adult

I know a little Herbie

user2020 · 25/10/2018 16:20

I like Herbie as a stand-alone name but not Herbert.

Love it and all the NNs too

I really like it and Herbie, Bertie and Herb are great NNs.

Sorry awful- cute for a baby when Herbie but a grown man called Herbert is just a no for me.

It's a slightly old fashioned phrase for a silly man, as in "Ooh you look a right Herbert in that Christmas jumper". So no not really. And it's not particularly attractive. All 'Bert' names sound very Victorian. Perhaps Albert is one of the better ones.
