James Ellis or Ellis James

Both family names, we have always loved James but worried it’s a bit common/ dull? Also there’s an actor with our surname. Love Ellis too but have had some comments that it’s a bit ‘chavvy’/ girly?!?!

James Ellis

James Ellis by a billion miles. Yes its boring but Its also a proper manly classic strong name. Its also not faddy and won't date. Plus it suits through every stage of life.

Im afraid I Agree about Ellis being chavvy

TatianaLarina · 25/10/2018 13:57

James for sure. Not keen on Ellis.

Knittedfairies · 25/10/2018 14:05

James Ellis was an actor too...

Peachbubble · 25/10/2018 14:12

James Ellis

HouseplantInvasion · 25/10/2018 14:30

I prefer Ellis James! I find James as a first name a bit boring.

powercutie · 25/10/2018 14:33

Ellis James! I actually really like that

userabcname · 25/10/2018 14:34

I prefer James Ellis. James is a lovely, classic name and not over-used imo (I'm a teacher so do meet lots of children).

Volant · 25/10/2018 14:35

Depends slightly what your surname begins with. If, e.g., it's Taylor he might get the piss taken a bit if his initials are JET.

MapleSpice · 25/10/2018 14:36

Ellis James sounds really good but I prefer James as a first name, it's such a strong, classic name that's not overused.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 25/10/2018 14:37

James Ellis by a mile. Strong and classic, not often heard for little ones now. Ellis sounds really feminine to me, more of a girls name.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 25/10/2018 14:38

Volant no one would take the piss out if that, in fact they’d probably like it

Hogtini · 25/10/2018 14:40

Elis (Welsh spelling) James is a fairly famous Welsh comedian so for that reason I'd say James Ellis but both are nice.

llangennith · 25/10/2018 14:55

Ellis is a great name. Not that unusual where I live. James is a nice but boring name.

amcavoy · 25/10/2018 15:23

Thanks guys it’s helpful to have different opinions! @Volant surname is McAvoy, so was a bit unsure because of the famous actor James McAvoy?! Initials would be JEM... 🤔

Ellis james

user2020 · 25/10/2018 15:41

@amcavoy I definitely wouldn't go with James McAvoy I'd go with Ellis for this reason.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 25/10/2018 15:54

James McAvoy is fine, none will know him of his age

HJL2506 · 25/10/2018 18:45

I'm 3 days overdue with DS2 and his name will either be Ellis James, or both his middle names will be Ellis James. We are going to wait until we see his little face. Great choice 🙂
