Hello!
Husband and I are expecting a baby boy and we've both grown very fond of "Jody". My friends tell me it's too girlish for a male and he'll be picked on, but they seem to be missing the fact that it's unisex!!!
Any thoughts/advice?
Thanks!

Agree with your friends I'm afraid. Some unisex names work well, but I dont think this one will. ( but thats just my opinion - others may disagree)

I do know a Male Jody but I know mostly female Jodie’s

The male Jody regularly has to explain his sex and name. Either people think he should be a girl if they’ve only seen or heard his name, or people misunderstand his name if they know he’s a man, as Jody isn’t common as a male name.

I wouldn’t use it for a boy, it is unisex but far more popular as a female name. Like I know one Male Vivian but the vast majority of people wth that name are female Vivienne’s

I agree that it's too feminine, sorry!

DramaAlpaca · 23/10/2018 22:26

I find it a very feminine name. Sorry.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 23/10/2018 22:32

I know a few male Jodys (one is a professional footballer). I think it's coming back. The ones I know are all under 25.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/10/2018 22:32

Really too feminine.

DC2018 · 23/10/2018 23:04

Sorry but I agree with pp. Jody is a girls name imo

finallychangedmyusername · 24/10/2018 13:38

I know a male Jody and female Jodie. To me it's unisex.

bridgetreilly · 24/10/2018 17:48

I would say Jody is male and Jodie is female. I don't love it for either, tbh, but there's no reason not to choose it if you like it.

SemperIdem · 24/10/2018 17:50

I know male Jody’s. I really don’t like it, for a man or a woman. Strange for a man, dreadfully dull for a woman.

SoyDora · 24/10/2018 17:51

I know one male Jody and lots of female Jodies. Don’t like it for either sex!

Sophronia · 24/10/2018 18:47

I quite like Jody for a boy!

SuperstarDJ · 24/10/2018 20:27

I don’t like it for either sex tbh

jigsawpiece · 25/10/2018 11:03

How about Jude?

MonkeyToucher · 25/10/2018 13:21

Never heard it used as a boys name, I’d assume it was a girl.

How about Cody?

ratherbeshowjumping · 25/10/2018 15:30

I quite like it...

LeeMiller · 26/10/2018 09:12

I know a male.Jody (in his 40s) and he often gets letters addressed to Miss, etc.

I think it's one of those unisex names that are now more commonly thought of as girls' names - like Vivian or Lindsay.

How about Joe, Toby, Cody, Jesse, Jude, Jonah...
