I have an Edward and we call him Teddy for short but we are due to have a second boy and are both liking the name Theodore but I do no that you can also shorten Theodore to Teddy (obviously not going to we will make him Theo) but wondering if the names are to close and similar to use both

What does everyone think

Edward and Theodore sound lovely to me, I think they work really well together. Just coincidence that the nicknames are the same. Teddy and Theo sound nice together too.

Eddie and Teddy is ok

I love both of these names separately but together I think they’re far too similar, especially as your Edward is known as Teddy. I think it’s better to give your new baby their own identity and avoid something so close to their brother’s name.

Perfect combination.
Theodore is nothing like Edward
Theo sounds very different to Teddy.

You could end up with a Ted and and Edd. They probably will insist they aren't called that. But it's really sweet.

Sorry but I'd say they are too similar. Bit like naming your children Elizabeth and Isobel. Or John and Jack. Or Harry and Henry.
