What are your thoughts on the name Sydney do a girl? Do you know any?

OP posts:

Not keen personally, I think it's quite an ugly sound. I know three boy Sidneys, no girls.

SuperGekkoMuscles · 22/10/2018 13:25

It’s not a pretty name at all, quite harsh sounding for a girl. I don’t like it.

Cbeebiesrehab · 22/10/2018 13:27

Will always remind me of the girl from Scream!

LJFM2B · 22/10/2018 15:25

I love it!!

I have only ever heard of one girl with this name and i was in primary school (now in my 30s) and i still remember it, loved it then and love it now. DH doesnt like names associated with places and seen as we went there for a recent honeymoon he thinks people may think thats where we conceived so im not allowed it!! :(

Go for it, unique with out being really out there

I used to teach a girl called Sydney and everyone shortened it to Syd (or Sidders in one case!) It really suited her and I like it.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 22/10/2018 15:34

Don't know any but rather like it.

brissle · 22/10/2018 16:50

I know one, a teenager - don't mind it.

EloisaJane · 22/10/2018 20:53

I really like it.

RedDwarves · 22/10/2018 21:57

I like it, but would spell it Sidney to differentiate from the city (fabulous city, though I am biased).

Picknickers · 22/10/2018 23:26

I'm sorry OP but it's my least favourite name ever for boy or girl. So very ugly.
