What is Hugh's brother called?

Expecting DC2, have plenty of girls names but stuck on boys. DS1 is Hugh.

Boys names we like but can't use:

Edward (because of the newsreader )
Toby (DH hates it)
Alistair (too similar to my name)
Henry (don't want the same initials
William (nephew)
George (nephew)
Thomas (DH)

We actually both like Felix, but worried it sounds like a cat/he might hate it when he's older. Should we just say sod it, we like it so we're using it?

Clever mumsnet came up with Hugh, which I'd never considered but LOVE now, so hoping you can come up trumps again!

Well, I think Felix would be the best choice and I also like Alexander. I have one of those and he is Alec rather than Alex, which I think could be a good pair with Hugh.

I also know someone with a son called Hugh. His siblings include Iain and Donald.

The Hugh I know has a brother called Martin.

Alexander might not get shorted to Alex! I know one who goes by Ally.
I only suggested Alex as it's 4 letters to go with Hugh but Alexander sounds nice in it's own right.

Angus, Callum

Both the Hughs I know have brothers called Toby! But i think Benedict, Andrew or even John would work well too.

@hoping2018 the only person who has ever called him Hughie is my FIL when he was first born. DH put him straight and it has never happened again. A couple of people have confused it with Hugo, but I think that's just a mistake and could happen with all sorts of names.

Felix is nice.

First thing to come to mind was Hugh and Albert. I like another posters suggestion of Hugh and Rory too

I'm not a fan of Felix personally but it is becoming more mainstream so I doubt he'd hate it as it would have always been his name

Babymamamama · 21/10/2018 08:45

Hugh and Tobias

Errrrrrr · 21/10/2018 09:03

Love Hugh! It was on out list, as were a couple of your rejected names. Also:

Jonathan
Laurence
Douglas
Frederick
Eric

Toofle · 21/10/2018 10:33

Angus often becomes Gus.

Crazycatlady80 · 21/10/2018 18:52

Definitely go with Felix. That is my DS1 name and we love it, only ever had positive comments and never met a cat with the same name.

DS2 was also nearly Hugo so I think Felix and Hugh would go great together.
