What is Hugh's brother called?

Expecting DC2, have plenty of girls names but stuck on boys. DS1 is Hugh.

Boys names we like but can't use:

Edward (because of the newsreader )
Toby (DH hates it)
Alistair (too similar to my name)
Henry (don't want the same initials
William (nephew)
George (nephew)
Thomas (DH)

We actually both like Felix, but worried it sounds like a cat/he might hate it when he's older. Should we just say sod it, we like it so we're using it?

Clever mumsnet came up with Hugh, which I'd never considered but LOVE now, so hoping you can come up trumps again!

Loving all these suggestions, the more the merrier so keep them coming!

There are so many that have been suggested that I've thought about and disregarded but might need to revisit!

I have a Felix. I still love it.

He is 4 and I've only had one cat comment when he was first born. No one had batted an eyelid since and I get lots of nice comments.

Hugh and Alexander does sound nice, I must admit.

Hugh and Felix are nice also because neither can really be shortened/nicknamed. Ditto Hugh and Angus which we've also considered.

So many great suggestions here!

If you don't like Alex do not go with Alexander it WILL get shortened😢

hoping2018 · 20/10/2018 22:20

@blunderful a bit off topic but Hugh is high on our list but DH is concerned he'll get called hughie which he hates - does this ever happen?!

Personally I don't think Hugh and Felix go that well - I like both but different styles.

Now following this so I can see what people come up with as we clearly have similar tastes!

moredoll · 20/10/2018 22:23

I like Alexander with Hugh.
If you don't like Alex as a nn you could encourage the use of Xander.

clara787 · 20/10/2018 22:25

It's been tried and tested here, people naturally shorten to Alex rather then Xander

Violetparis · 20/10/2018 22:29

Hugh and Spencer
