Hello,

I'd love to have everyone's opinion on this choice:

  1. Spelling: Isabel or Isabella?
  2. Name choice: Isabel/Isabella or Esther?

Thank you!

She'll become 'Bella ' or 'Issy'. If you're happy with that, fine. What about Esther Isabella ( as a middle name)?

JC4PMPLZ · 16/10/2018 09:13

Isabel or Isabella. Esther is a frumpy name and ends up as Ez or Est, not so nice.

Polkasq · 16/10/2018 09:21

Isabella is a lovely name but Isobel and variations have been really popular quite recently.

Esther is nice or how about Estella?

NoSquirrels · 16/10/2018 09:21

I love Esther, personally.

Eleanor90 · 16/10/2018 09:23

Love Esther! Isabel/Isabella is overdone.

EthelHallowsBroomstick · 16/10/2018 09:23

I'm so bored of Isobel and its variations, so Esther. Estella is nice too or Estelle.

Wenchelda · 16/10/2018 09:24

I love Esther and it was very nearly my dd's name but really didn't suit her when she was born. We would've used Ettie as a nn. I like a pp's suggestion of Esther Isabella - that seems to flow nicely.

Wherearemycarkeys · 16/10/2018 09:42

Esther is lovely whereas Isobel and Isobella have both become a bit dull due to popularity imo

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/10/2018 09:47

Isabelle

RedDwarves · 16/10/2018 09:49

Isabella.

Not a fan of Isabel, and I think Esther is dire, honestly.

Ellynewmum · 16/10/2018 09:56

Thanks for the comments!

I like both Isabel and Isabella
Is Isabella a bit less used than Isabel?

Thanks!

Isabel.

ReginaPhalange89 · 16/10/2018 11:04

I'd have thought Isabella was more common that Isabel? Isabella is nicer though, imo. Isabel seems older to me. Can't picture it on a little girl .

RedTriangle · 16/10/2018 11:13

Esther sounds to me like the name of someone in their 60s or 70s.

CheeseTheDay · 16/10/2018 13:08

Isabella/Isabelle/Isabel bore me to death. If you add all the variants of the name together, I'm pretty sure it'd be the #1 name in the country.

Esther on the other hand, is a bolder and braver choice, and for me beats the uninspired Isabel et al names hands down.

Karachii · 16/10/2018 13:26

Love love love Esther. It sounds very sophisticated.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/10/2018 13:53

Love Esther. It's very chic and can be shortened to Essie which I also

Also love Isobel (prefer this spelling) but it is very popular.

Isabella is a bit frilly for my tastes but still a nice name

Shadow1234 · 16/10/2018 15:40

Prefer Isobel (spelt this way) to Esther.

daisypond · 16/10/2018 20:58

I like Isabella/Isabel and Esther. I think Isabella, while pretty, is too frilly, and I think the style of name will be going out of fashion. Isabel is nicer. But I like Esther more.

Cherries101 · 16/10/2018 21:03

I like Isabel. You could spell it ysabel too. Or ysabelle

MikeUniformMike · 16/10/2018 21:05

Isabel and Isabella and all their variations are overused.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/10/2018 21:15

Isobel.

Glumglowworm · 16/10/2018 21:42

Isabelle wise I prefer Isobel but I prefer Isabella to Isabelle

But Esther is lovely and different while still being well known. I don’t know any little Esther’s but I’ve lost count of how many Isabelle/Isabella/Isabel/Isobel/Izabel I’ve known
