We find out what we’re having tomorrow

Have a list of girls names, but no boys names we can agree on. So just interested to hear feedback/ suggestions

Emmeline
Evangeline
Beatrix

We did have Georgina but mumsnet feedback a while ago suggested nn will be George and not Georgie - so we’ve decided against it.

For a boy I really want Joseph or Benjamin but DH has vetoed both . The only name we can agree on is Aidan but even then neither of us love it.

I find naming babies so difficult!

Really like the names Emmeline and Evangeline, not too keen
On Beatrix. Beatrice has a nicer softer sound, but thats just my opinion. Aiden is quite a nice name for a boy.

Thank you- great list and Beatrice is a lovely alternative which I hadn’t thought of

Beatrice, by a mile!

I always think of Emmeline Pankhurst, and Evangeline is a bit of a mouthful- and will inevitably shorten to a generic Eva/Evie.

PurpleFlowersInMyHair · 16/10/2018 08:38

I love the thought of people thinking of Emmeline Pankhurst!

Beatrice is beautiful- what are the typical nicknames?

Scan is at lunchtime. Very nervous about all being well but also excited to see the little one and find out the sex- we don’t have a preference but do want to know.

Emmeline of your girls names. I love Evangeline, but it's too evangelical for my liking, and I don't like Beatrix.

I don't think Georgina is any more likely to get George than Georgie, FWIW.

LeeMiller · 16/10/2018 09:14

I also love Beatrice and prefer it to Beatrix. Beatrice I think of Shakespeare and Dante. Bea is a nice nickname.

Emmeline is nice, I like Evangeline but Evie and Ava are everywhere. Aiden is fine but I prefer your other choices. Boys' names are hard! Yours are very classic, what other names does he like, to have a better idea of his taste?

RiverTam · 16/10/2018 09:18

I really wouldn't write off a name because of what MN thinks the nn will be, so really don't discount Georgina.

3secondsfromchaos · 16/10/2018 09:22

I like your girls names - all lovely ones.

For boys I like:
Flynn
Malachi
Emrys
Eli
Silas
Monty

Good luck!

He likes Theodore and Frederick. I don’t like either of those

Thanks for the views on my girls names, I know everyone has a different opinion but don’t want to give my child a name that is universally disliked without realising!

I know a few Georgina's who don't go by George. It's not certain that she would be call that.

boux · 16/10/2018 11:48

How about Georgiana? It is more likely to be shortened to Georgie because of the 'e' sound.

Icklepup · 16/10/2018 12:13

Beatrice

LeeMiller · 16/10/2018 13:53

Alfred as an alternative to Frederick? Nn Freddie.

Edmund
Nathanial
Thomas
Gabriel
Samuel
Sebastian
Henry
Alexander
Benedict

It’s a boy! And looks to be healthy- phew!

I’m going through all your boys names now Smile

I think nn Georgie would be much more likely than George? If in doubt, just put down Georgie in the 'is known as' box when she starts nursery!

PurpleFlowersInMyHair · 18/10/2018 12:27

It’s a boy so definitely not going with Georgina now Grin
