I've always quite liked it . I don't like Ellie . And I know Ella is quite popular, but I don't know of any Elle's.

Thoughts ?

Love it. My DD has a name that is often shortened to 'El', but I think 'Elle' is beautiful in its own right. Also, I've not come across any little Elles, it's a bit more unusual, which is always nice!

Sunflower321 · 15/10/2018 09:45

It's She in French. I don't like it as a name.

Shadow1234 · 15/10/2018 10:35

Really like it. Once had a hairdresser with the name, but dont know of any others. Also like Ellis as well.

ReginaPhalange89 · 15/10/2018 11:27

Oh I know it means She, I don't think that's a bad thing, at least it doesn't mean anything masculine lol!

Oh I forgot about Ellis. Are there too many El names around do you think ?

Not even pregnant yet btw 😂 have 2 girls already and just so sure I'll end up with another one next time round lol

Dull. Definitely too many Ell names around.

RavenWings · 15/10/2018 19:07

I love it, but wouldn't use. The horde of Ellie's make it seem a bit bland and overused. She could just get called Ellie all the time anyway. Shame, as Elle is a far classier name.

Glumglowworm · 15/10/2018 21:19

It feels a bit incomplete to me tbh. Maybe because I know so many girls who are El short for Eleanor/Ellie/Ella/Elouise

Cosmoa · 15/10/2018 21:51

To me it's just always been an elaborate way of spelling a letter of the alphabet.

LeeMiller · 16/10/2018 09:36

I think of Legally Blonde and the magazine, to be honest. It will just blend in with the masses of Ellies and Ellas.

64BooLane · 16/10/2018 09:41

Don’t like it, sorry; it’s a combination of reasons. Partly because it’s been used as a magazine/brand name; and partly because the fact that the meaning is a pronoun makes it seem weirdly “meaningless” iyswim. And also partly because there are so, so many Ella, Ellie, Elle type names around that I think it is just a boring choice.

Sunflower321 · 16/10/2018 14:03

Actually it does sound like the letter L Grin

ReginaPhalange89 · 16/10/2018 15:43

Haha not a great response then ! Probably take it off the list. I think it's going to be a struggle this time around , dd2 I had the name picked out for years before . 2 pregnancies and I've never come up with a boy's name that I love 🙈

I think Elle is a beautiful name. It's firmly on my shortlist for when DH and I have a baby. I wouldn't let the responses here put you off.
