Just that really and also how would you pronounce it?

  1. It's very common. Eeevah. Pretty but a bit overused - like Ella.
BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 14/10/2018 09:37

A lot. Seriously a lot.

It always surprises me, because I know ONE Eve, which I think is far more beautiful, and about 20 Evas. All under the age of 10.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 14/10/2018 09:37

I know loads (10+)ranging in age from 50 down to newborn, it’s pretty but so popular.

Fatted · 14/10/2018 09:37

I know a few Eva's and Ava's.

Always reminds me of the film Wall-E and the robot saying 'Eeeev-a'!

BevBrook · 14/10/2018 09:41

One. It is short for Evangaline. She's three.

sparkling123 · 14/10/2018 09:42

Can I also ask what regions people are in? You can keep it general like N, S, E, W England, or just the country. I read one statistic that it's most popular in Scotland.

One, pronounced eeva

EvaGraceMummy2015 · 14/10/2018 09:43

My little girl is called Eva and she's the only one I know😊 no Eva's at nursery, never come across another Eva in play groups etc think it just depends where you live..

donkey86 · 14/10/2018 09:44

I don’t know any - and I have a one year old DD and we go to a lot of groups, so I know a lot of babies! I’m pretty sure I’ve not met a single Eva. We’re in SE England.

Oysterbabe · 14/10/2018 09:47

I know 5 people who have had baby girls in the last few years and 3 of them are called Eva.

Cattenberg · 14/10/2018 09:48

I know a baby Eva (pronounced EE-va), a baby Eve and a teenage Evie.

Anasnake · 14/10/2018 09:50

I teach and have come across quite a few - also Eve, Ava, Evie, very popular.

Cattenberg · 14/10/2018 09:50

I'm in SW England. I think there's a general trend for names starting with vowels (especially A).

3boysandabump · 14/10/2018 09:51

Only one and she's in her 60s. NE

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 14/10/2018 09:53

I’m in the SE and I know approximately eleventy billion. It’s one of the most popular names here for kids up to about 7 or 8 so must have come in about 2010.

I have a niece called Eva who is 15 and everything thought her parents had lost their mind, so interesting how fast it’s changed.

LethalWhite · 14/10/2018 09:53

I know 4, all under 5 - the north

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 14/10/2018 09:54

Oh yes Evie very popular here too but with older kids on the whole so maybe it’s been slightly replaced by Eva.

Don’t know any Eves but I think that’s super pretty.

Asmallrole · 14/10/2018 09:58

North Yorkshire
2 Evas
3 Avas
2 Evies
2 Eves
Age range 3 - 9

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 14/10/2018 10:00

I know one short for Evangeline she’s about 6.
I have an Evie and despite people on mumsnet saying it’s really popular/ theres so many Evies/ it’s really boring etc my Evie is the only one in her whole school and I rarely meet other Evies when out and about. I just depends where you live. We live in London btw.

mintich · 14/10/2018 10:04
  1. Pronounced Eeeva. I'm in Essex.
sparkling123 · 14/10/2018 11:19

@Dinosaursdontgrowontrees yeah, I feel like this will probably be the case. I don't know anyone at all called Eva but have read about how popular it is.

LittleMouseontheDairy · 14/10/2018 11:30

I know one Eva (Czech and in her 60s). Pronounced Eee-va but the ‘va’ is stressed slightly more than the ‘Ee’.
I know an 8 yr old Eve and there are 2 Evie’s and two Ava’s in DS yr 2.
Am in the SE.
DS1 is Leo and despite this being in top 10 he’s the only one in his class and was the only one at nursery. If you love the name don’t worry too much.
I only know of one Olivia and one Amelia in the past few years and they’re super popular!

RavenWings · 14/10/2018 11:31

Many. I teach, we have at least one in each class (plus Evie, Ava, Eve etc). I also run an out of school activity for kids and we have loads there too. It's really one of the most generic names out there imo.

RavenWings · 14/10/2018 11:31

Oh, and I am in Ireland.

Saymaname · 14/10/2018 11:32

None, I’m in south east. I know one Ava
