Just that really and also how would you pronounce it?

Lots of Evie’s and Ava’s no Eva’s though

BewareOfDragons · 14/10/2018 11:48

There are loads around here, SE.

Evas, Evies, Avas...

bridgetreilly · 14/10/2018 11:52

I know one, with an accent over the e, pronounced Ava.

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2018 11:58

I know it's popular but I only know one, and she's 20. Gorgeous name.

PiggyPoos · 14/10/2018 12:09

Eva here was v popular a few years back so loads of 5/7 year olds and not many toddlers.

finallychangedmyusername · 14/10/2018 13:27

Too many to count. Plus loads of Evies and Avas too. Off the top of my head, six Evas. Probably more though. In Home Counties.

WheelyCote · 14/10/2018 13:35

2

It's a lovely name.

Glumglowworm · 14/10/2018 14:59

Only one Eva, but it feels like more because it’s so much like Eve/Evie/Evelyn/Ava plus all the other E names like Ella/Ellie/Emily/Erin

ReginaPhalange89 · 14/10/2018 15:33

I feel like I know loads but when I think about it, I only personally know one Eva. But I know lots of Evie's and Ava's , and I know it's terrible but they all just sort or seem like one name to me now !

(West of Scotland )

JosellaPlayton · 14/10/2018 16:31

I know about 15? Ranging from newborn up to about 75 years old. All different nationalities- English, American, Canadian, polish, Lithuanian... And that’s not counting the Avas/Evies that are everywhere too.

loveshinealight · 14/10/2018 17:03

I'm in Scotland. I know like 20 billion. Between Eva and Ava it must be the post popular ever. Seriously though I can count 15 under 5.

sparkling123 · 14/10/2018 17:10

The other options were Evie and Edie. But Eva is currently our favourite as we wanted to avoid a name that was already a nickname. Thought about Eve but too biblical. The other name I love is Erica but just can't convince partner sadly.

TenThousandSpoons · 14/10/2018 22:50

I know three aged 10 and one aged 6.
I think it’s a lovely name and not so common now as it was ten years ago (in my experience, not sure if baby name statistics would back me up!)

Sunflower321 · 14/10/2018 22:54

I know lots of Evas

Pronunciation would depend on where I was or where Eva is from, either Eeva or Ehva (long é)

KERALA1 · 14/10/2018 22:57

Avoid any eve derivative utterly overdone. At one stage one third of the girls in dds class were eve/Evie/eva. It's this generations sarah. She won't thank you.

Marcipex · 14/10/2018 22:59

Many many. In sw England.
Tho I'm not always sure who is Eva, Evie, Ava, Evelyn or Evangeline but Eva for short etc.

Elmo303 · 14/10/2018 23:02

SW England, know so many that it’s kind of made a beautiful name feel a bit yawnsome. Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear. Pronounced Ee-vah here. I personally would choose something different because of its popularity but it is a lovely name

Elmo303 · 14/10/2018 23:10

If you like Edie but don’t want a nickname-y name how about Eden? It’s a bit more unusual than all the Eva’s and Evie’s etc but still a short E name

RavenWings · 14/10/2018 23:31

Oh I love Erica. I agree with the Eden suggestion above - or Aoife possibly. Edel nicknamed Edie?

Marcipex · 15/10/2018 06:16

Eden is nice, and I only know 2.

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/10/2018 08:27

There are 2 in my toddlers music class then I know if another 3. All are aged 2 or under.

Welshmaiden85 · 15/10/2018 08:28

Too many but not so many as Ellie -It’s like the Sarah of the 90’s.

megletthesecond · 15/10/2018 08:30

Loads. Hampshire.

CalmTheFarm · 15/10/2018 08:37

I only know one (although I have not been in baby / school circles for a very long time) who was in my DD's year at school (they are 19) and I thought it was an extremely beautiful name back then (and still is imo).

Don't let popularity put you off OP if you really love it, its popular for a reason.

memaymamo · 15/10/2018 08:48

I know 0 but I'm not in the U.K. so that's not helpful. I only know one young Evelyn.

We gave DD a hugely popular name for her year and I have never regretted it a jot. Not once.
