Just that really and also how would you pronounce it?

We gave DD a hugely popular name for her year and I have never regretted it a jot

But it's not you, but your daughter that has to live with the name.

Sunflower321 · 15/10/2018 09:43

Eva is very popular and a little overused

KERALA1 · 15/10/2018 10:06

Love how parents on this board pat themselves on the back about their choice of names - its the kids opinions as adults thats the proof of the pudding! My name is boring there are usually 2 or 3 in each friendship group of women in their 40s. Abit dull imo. My sister got a brilliant name and I have name envy!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 15/10/2018 10:09

I like Edie

I actually like Eva but I’m my head it always ends with “Braun”

Ava’s are absolutely ten a penny down here in Surrey. Everywhere.

Tinty · 15/10/2018 10:25

A friend has a dd in year 4 there are 4 Eva's in her school year. Also 3 Ava's. Very common in Devon.

SimplyPut · 15/10/2018 10:26

17 that I can put faces to in DD's primary school alone.

Including friends children over 25. Scotland.

GiGi18 · 15/10/2018 10:28

I'm in Scotland and only know one. Lovely name!

whyIsARavenLikeAWritingDesk · 15/10/2018 10:30

Lots we are in NE. My little girl is Evie because we didn't think it was that popular, how wrong we were but I still love it

PinkAvocado · 15/10/2018 10:33

I’m a teacher and know none. I know 2 Evies and one Ava but no Eva. I love it!

Only 0.24% of babies were called it last year and it was 33rd on ONS list so it cannot be that popular nationally. Eve is even less popular but Evie is more so.

TheGhostOfYou · 15/10/2018 11:31

2 in DDs class.

EthelHallowsBroomstick · 15/10/2018 14:47

One. I also know two Avas and an Evie, all age 8 or under.
(Scotland)

It always makes me think of Eva Braun, tbh.

Belindabauer · 15/10/2018 16:27

2 Eva's
2 Avas
3 Eves
Plus lots of Evies, Ellie and Ellas.

Sunflower321 · 15/10/2018 18:08

It's not just Eva, but there are so many Evies, Ellies, Eves and Avas.

Cbeebiesrehab · 15/10/2018 19:43

Wow, if that many Evas are known I dread to think how many Olivias are.

Cbeebiesrehab · 15/10/2018 19:44

Giving that Eva is ranked 33rd.

JosellaPlayton · 15/10/2018 20:03

Cbeebiesrehab certainly more people named their babies Olivia than Eva in the past few years but whether there are more Olivias overall I don’t know... just thinking that I personally know several non-English adult Evas but I can’t say the same about Olivia. Also, Eva gets lumped in with all of the similar names like Ava, Eve, Evie whilst Olivia doesn’t have any direct comparisons, except perhaps Olive but that’s hardly popular. So it might give the impression that there are more Evas than there actually are... Who knows!

Welshmaiden85 · 16/10/2018 00:55

Yeah it’s not so much how many Eva’s but all the virtually indistinguishable names like Ellie, Ava, Evie... they all sound so similar that they should be combined for ranking IMO. But if you love it then go for it.

greatpotential · 17/10/2018 07:11

Eva is pretty but part of a group of names which sound the same and are v common at the moment, if that bothers you.

In London I know 1 Eva, 2 Evies, 3 Edies, 3 Avas, 2 Adas and 2 Ivys. All under 4.

Cookit · 17/10/2018 08:32

I think the problem is you’ve got all the Eves, Evas, Avas and Evies which all sound almost the same and added together it’s everywhere. An Olivia would probably sound less common despite being the most popular name.

physicskate · 17/10/2018 10:56

Former teacher (quit in feb). Yorkshire based. Had one mixed class of 18 - 3 Evies and an eva. And another clad class had one of each. Massive over saturation!!

Oopsy41 · 17/10/2018 10:58

I'm Manchester area and know 7 Eva's, aged 12months to 15 years. It's a lovely name and is very popular

Sunflower321 · 17/10/2018 11:07

There are too many Eves, Evas, Evies as well as Ellies and Ellas. They've become boring through overuse

KERALA1 · 17/10/2018 11:14

Avoid all the names in sunflowers post every other girl named one of those it seems plus Amelia and Olivia. Odd when there are loads of lovely unused "normal" names. Zoe, Miranda, Tess, Gemma off top of head. Why all pick the same ones?!
