What are your thoughts on Dominic

Would Nicky work as a shortening or do you think it's destined to be shortened to Dom?

It will be shortened to Dom
I dont like it

RhinestoneCowgirl · 14/10/2018 07:52

I have a 12 yr old Dominic, he is often Dom.

DragonGoby · 14/10/2018 07:53

If you want Nicky I'd go for Nicholas.

DancingDakini · 14/10/2018 07:53

Lovely name, he will definitely be Dom.

GlitterBurps · 14/10/2018 07:55

Lovely name, we know a Dominic and he is mostly called Dom.

bridgetreilly · 14/10/2018 09:09

I know a Dominic nn Nic. If that's what you call him, that's what he'll be called.

LeeMiller · 14/10/2018 09:09

Dom is the obvious shortening but I don't think it's inevitable, though you can't control what people call him once he starts school. I know a Domenic known as Nico and a couple of Italian Domenicos nicknamed Mimi.

I love it and think that Nico or Nicky are possible, although as previous posters have said, you can't control what he'll get called when he starts school.

Siun · 14/10/2018 09:18

I love it.

Wherearemycarkeys · 14/10/2018 11:41

I like Dominic but not Nicky

RavenWings · 14/10/2018 11:43

Love Dominic, but if you're dead set on Nicky then I'd avoid it. Can't control what others call him or what he chooses himself.

bridgetreilly · 14/10/2018 11:54

I find this whole 'you can't control what he gets called when he starts school' thing really odd. I mean, you get to tell the school what his preferred name is. And he gets to tell his friends what he wants to be called. If he changes his mind, I agree, you can't and shouldn't control that. But other people really don't get to decide what he will be called.
