I feel brave so wanted to know what you think about our top names for a baby due in May.

Aurelia Jean (Jean after a deathly departed grandmother)
Caito James

Love them!
A good mix of old and new.
Caito James especially.

Love Aurelia Jean. Don't like Caito though. It reminds me of the guy from Hunger Games called Cato who was eaten by those horrible monster things. It was a really horrible death scene which really put me off the name which I had previously thought was quite cool.

That's the issue with Caito. We think that by the time the kid goes to school, people would've forgotten about that reference. It's actually after Caito the elder

Saw the hunger games but didn’t even remember that guy was called Cato. I don’t think many people will make the connection to be honest.

AtticaRose · 14/10/2018 08:25

Cato the Elder is spelled "Cato".

Can I ask why you're spelling it Caito? It's kind of a cool name - very unusual - but if it's after a historical figure, I would not change the spelling.

Aurelia Jean is lovely.

We have not made a conscious choice yet about spring.

How do you pronounce Caito? Is it like Kay-toe ? I've never heard of it before which puts me off a bit (I'm more of a traditional name gal) . But Aurelia is lovely

anatol · 14/10/2018 12:27

I would assume if it's after Cato the Elder it would be pronounced at cah-toe, like his name? In which case the spelling Caito doesn't make sense to me?

AtticaRose · 14/10/2018 12:47

@anatol In English, people say Cato as kay-toe. (The original Latin pronunciation is a bit different.)

Definitely spell it Cato!

daisypond · 14/10/2018 14:06

Both are nice. Aurelia isn't my particular cup of tea, but it's fine. It's nice with Jean as a middle name. Cato, not Caito, as well.

WaxOnFeckOff · 14/10/2018 14:19

I love Jean and would use that as a first name. Not that keen on Aurelia, it always reminds me of nipples.

I like Caito/Cato and you can't go wrong with James.

E20mom · 14/10/2018 14:20

I like them

Cottonia · 14/10/2018 21:58

I prefer the spelling Cato.

Caito looks like a girl’s name to me for some reason (probably because I have a friend called Cait)

zozozoo · 14/10/2018 21:59

They sound like they should be on a starship

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/10/2018 22:02

Really nice OP.

RavenWings · 14/10/2018 22:41

Aurelia Jean is lovely.

As for Caito James, I like it but if the person you're naming him after is generally known as Cato, you should use Cato. Otherwise it looks like you trying to be unique and create your own spelling.

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2018 23:00

Aurelia Jean is fine.

I love James, but Caito I really don't like, not even if it's correctly spelled Cato.

Sunflower321 · 15/10/2018 08:18

Aurelia and Cato are lovely!

Or how about Aurelius?

DC18 · 15/10/2018 19:44

I love Aurelia! It's a gorgeous name but sounds terrible in my glaswegian accent so I can't use it 😭 x

JosellaPlayton · 15/10/2018 19:54

Love your girl’s name, Aurelia Jean is just beautiful. Sorry and it’s just my personal opinion but I hate your boy’s name. I don’t get Caito, it looks like a made up girl’s name (I know a Cait short for Caitlyn), Cato would be better but I still dislike that almost as much.
