Starting to worry

My baby boy is due on Tuesday and we have no name ideas for him at all! We were never going to name him before he was born because I want to see his face first but I thought we’d have a few favourites and just pick one but we’ve got nothing!

Did anyone else have this problem?

I’m also really worried we’re going to name him and I won’t like it because nothing seems to sound right!

Are there any names you kind of like?

Shadow1234 · 13/10/2018 05:31

Please dont panic and just rush into picking a name last minute. Some babies dont get given names for a week or so. (and some even longer). Obviously its not ideal, but better than picking a name you might regret).

You dont give an indication as to whether you prefer traditional names, modern names, unique names etc.. so I will just throw a mixed list out there for your consideration.

Forgot Jordan

Don't worry! Took us 3 days to name DS. He looked nothing like all the names we had on our shortlist. Ended up with a name we had never considered and it suited him perfectly. Good luck, it'll come to you once you see his little face Smile

I like more traditional names, I did love Arthur right from the start but my boyfriend really isn’t too keen so that ones off the cards unfortunately 😔
There’s a few others I like which are

Oliver
Freddy
Edward
Theodore/teddy
Henry

These are the only ones I like but none of them sound like my baby’s name, if that even makes sense..

Are there any 'family' names you like. A favourite great uncle or something.

auntyflonono · 13/10/2018 15:25

Ted short for Edward, Edwin or Theodor is great!

How about working on a middle name to start you off then adding in a first name.

How about James or Jasper as a middle name?

Babyboymama · 13/10/2018 22:36

Didn’t think about starting with a middle name - might try that! Less pressure than the first name😂 I do like James too so will definitely consider that

I like James and Edward. Don't worry, you've got weeks after he's born to make a final decision.

Longlostpals · 13/10/2018 22:46

Max? Harry?

moredoll · 13/10/2018 23:10

Joseph

Alexander James
Joseph James
Joseph Arthur

Thank you all for your suggestions.

@moredoll how long do you actually have before you have to register the birth?

OP posts:
moredoll · 14/10/2018 18:38

Think it's 6 weeks in England and Wales, 3 weeks in Scotland.

Babyboymama · 14/10/2018 19:39

Thank you, 6 weeks is a lot longer than I thought so I can relax a bit now!Grin
