This is not about a baby.
I really need some help in working out how to spell the name of a lovely lady who is the mother of one of my son's nursery friends. I have met her a few times now and the opportunity to ask has gone! Hoping the lovely ladies in this section can help.
The lady in question is French and her name sounds like Fane pele
All assistance gratefully received.

Could you say something like "How do you spell your name? I was talking about you to my friend because we were discussing French names..." She'll spell it out...then say "Oh my French accent is awful! Say it again...and let me try to get the emphasis correct'

You need to convince your nursery to make a Facebook group for all the parents so they can upload pics, share events etc, then stalk her (and all the other parents' names you don't know) on there. It is the only way.
Is her name Fanny?

Thanks everyone - I like the Facebook idea. We actually have a whats app group and I said I would ask her to join which is why I need to contact her!

I’m intrigued - can’t think what French name it could be. Assuming it’s not super unusual (and therefore outing) you must come back and tell us what it turns out to be!

I haven’t got a clue and can’t tell from your spelling... could you try another way of spelling the name phonetically?

On the other hand, I am foreign and really don’t mind people asking me how to spell my name, no matter how long I have known them.

I don't think the chance to ask how a name is pronounced or spelt ever goes.
Its just getting over being shy about it. I don't know anybody who would be offended by somebody asking if they wasn't sure. Especially those with more obscure or non English names
