Jemima, Ellen, Caroline? Or something else?

After lots and lots of debates, we’ve narrowed our shortlist down to these 3, but are now completely stuck as to which to go with, so I thought I’d fish for opinions!

For middle names, we’re thinking:
Jemima Caroline
Ellen Matilda
Caroline Iris

I like Caroline Iris best out of your choices. If I could swap the names around I like Matilda Ellen aswell x

Sophronia · 11/10/2018 23:42

I love Caroline Iris and Jemima Caroline. Caroline Matilda would be lovely too.

hungryhippie · 11/10/2018 23:46

They are all lovely OP, tough choice!

Shadow1234 · 12/10/2018 02:02

Ellen Matilda - I think the sound flows the best.

As other poster suggested - Matilda Ellen (would be my overall preference)

moredoll · 12/10/2018 02:05

Caroline Iris
Matilda Ellen

Peachbubble · 12/10/2018 06:29

Jemima or Caroline

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 12/10/2018 06:46

Ellen Matilda is my stand-out favourite. Beautiful, simple, sophisticated and Ellen is unusual.

I prefer Iris to Caroline.

deptfordgirl · 12/10/2018 06:53

Love Jemima and Matilda. Would probably choose Jemima Caroline out of the three.

deptfordgirl · 12/10/2018 06:54

Ellen is also nice but Ellie would be hard to avoid and there are so many Ellies.

Jeippinghmip · 12/10/2018 06:55

Jemima Ellen

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 12/10/2018 07:14

I think it's more than possible to have an Ellen who's not Ellie - when I was at school there were children who went by Kate, Katie, Cathy, Katherine, everyone as they wanted or their parents specified.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 12/10/2018 07:14

The point being, they didn't all end up as 'Katie'.

OutPinked · 12/10/2018 10:33

My dm is called Caroline but they wanted to name her Jemima however she was born close to a Christmas so Caroline it was Grin.

I like Jemima best.

Cbeebiesrehab · 12/10/2018 10:37

I like Ellen Matilda. I personally prefer the spelling Elin but that’s just me.

oskars · 12/10/2018 10:58

I love the name Jemima, although if I could mix it round I'd probably say Jemima Iris as I love both of those names - especially Iris.

Ellen is nice too and I don't know any Ellen's nicknamed to 'Ellie'.

Caroline is very outdated in my opinion, sorry!

Mugglemom · 12/10/2018 11:00

Coming from America, when I hear Jemima, I immediately think of Aunt Jemima (a syrup brand in the states).

All are lovely names.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/10/2018 11:46

Caroline Iris or Carolina Matilda

Ellen is my least favourite

Jemima always makes me think of ducks

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/10/2018 11:52

Ellen Caroline is very nice.

Oysterbabe · 12/10/2018 12:21

Ellen is my favourite.

effiehabb · 12/10/2018 15:58

Be very wary of Jemima! Very unpopular in the states for good reason, it was going to be the name for dd3, but the Aunt Jemima pancakes issue completely put me off.

Sungura · 12/10/2018 16:19

Ellen Matilda & Jemima Caroline both sound so nice! Tough, tough choice! I guess it depends on whether you like the more staid name of Ellen best, or the fresher Jemima.

LeeMiller · 12/10/2018 17:56

Ellen or Caroline. Your middle name choices for both are nice. Dislike Jemima. I just think puddleduck.

The Ellens I know go by Nell and Leni, not Ellie.

Topseyt · 12/10/2018 17:59

I think Jemima Caroline for me. Closely followed by Ellen Matilda.

ZebraKid71 · 12/10/2018 20:10

Another warning about using jemima is you have links to the states!

I love Caroline and have never met a baby with the name.

Snowcatrunsthehouse · 12/10/2018 20:39

Jemima iris!
