I was surprised to see from the ONS that Tiger/Tyger was used for both genders 23 times in total in 2017!!!!! This was without Tiger-Lily's etc...

Does anyone like this name? I surprised myself by saying I actually don't mind it for a girl!!!

I remember in 1998 meeting a punk rock couple with a baby called Tiger. So somewhere out there is a 20 year old called Tiger. Boy or girl can't remember. Hello Tiger speaking how can I help? Hmmm just doesn't sound right.

Ixnayonthehombre · 09/10/2018 23:05

One of mine has Tiger as a middle name.

Ohyesiam · 09/10/2018 23:07

I prefer Leopard

PiperPublickOccurrences · 09/10/2018 23:07

It's bloody awful. You can just about get away with it as a middle name if you have an ordinary first name.

Wherearemycarkeys · 10/10/2018 03:06

The oldest kid from Outnumbered is called Tyger. Poor boy.

Pretty sure both (or maybe just one) of his parents were porn stars. His name was probably the least of his worries.

Well I didn’t know that Cosmoa Shock

I once taught a little boy called Tiger, he had long hair and wore a shell necklace to school...he was four. His parents thought they were ever so cool. Unfortunately Tiger was a very ‘spirited’ child, which they also loved! He sticks in my mind even years later.

After looking up Tyger Drew-Honey turns out his real name is Lindzi. I prefer Tyger.

ZebraKid71 · 10/10/2018 21:03

My friend has a tiger, hes six months old.

Im not a fan.

I do like Tadgh though.

RedDwarves · 10/10/2018 22:04

It's ridiculous. Most people are not cool enough to pull off Tiger/Tyger, and it's the sort of name you need to be cool to have, otherwise it's just too ridiculous and will lead to a lifetime of resentment.

MrsGollach · 10/10/2018 22:06

There needs to be a book of names to choose from to stop idiotic parents doing this to children.

Siun · 10/10/2018 22:09

It's a common nick name for Tadhg, so why not use Tadhg if that doesn't scare you more.

letmepeeinpeace · 10/10/2018 22:16

I've just read Tyger Drews dad has called himself Ben Dover!! Both parents work in the porn industry

Dear lord Confused... Yes Tyger is far better haha!!

Ploppymoodypants · 10/10/2018 22:21

Yes Tyger Drew-Honey actually did an interesting documentary on the porn industry and it’s effects on young people today. He came across very well I thought. Very honest. And so did his mum and dad. (Misses point of thread)

Rebecca36 · 10/10/2018 22:41

Why name your child after a wild animal? I don't get it at all, same with Bear. Where will it all lead? Crococile, Zebra, Possom, Armadillo.....then on to dinosaurs!

The only Tyger I've ever heard of is the young actor, Tyger Drew-Honey, and his parents were (as has been said already), porn stars so one expects something a little - er - different from them.

There are plenty of good ordinary names around about which no child will complain as they get older.

BillywilliamV · 10/10/2018 22:47

I quite lime Armadillo, for a boy obviously

bridgetreilly · 11/10/2018 00:58

Tiger Tyger sounds like the firstname equivalent of those weird Victorian double-barrelled surnames: Smith-Smyth. Also, an excellent start to a poem.
