What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NonaGrey · 06/10/2018 22:21

It means a prickly shrub. That would put me off it as a name I’m afraid.

Sungura · 06/10/2018 22:22

I know a little boy named Briar. I like it better for a girl, though. It's a nice nature name.

RavenWings · 06/10/2018 22:23

Love the sound of it, not sure that I would actually use it myself. However if Hazel, Willow etc are acceptable I don't see why this wouldn't be.

motortroll · 06/10/2018 22:23

Love it!

MrsGollach · 06/10/2018 22:27

ridiculous. are we just making up names now?

Floyella · 06/10/2018 22:30

I like it. It's unfussy but memorable, and it sounds like a name even though I've not heard it before.

MrsLettuce · 06/10/2018 22:30

Great as a nickname for Bryony/Briony

kikidoyouloveme · 06/10/2018 22:31

I was thinking for a girl. Already got a boys name! I didn't know it meant prickly shrub lol, I don't think that puts me off too much.

I think It sounds really pretty and not very popular. No it's not made up ppHmm

I love it paired with rose. Although I don't like how popular rose has become so probably isn't an option.

Briar Rose is sleeping beauty's name I think?!

OatsBeansBarley · 06/10/2018 22:31

I think Briar Rose / Sleeping Beauty.

moredoll · 06/10/2018 22:31

Briar rose. I like Rose, not so sure about Briar.

mycatplotsdeath · 06/10/2018 22:31

I like it op

kikidoyouloveme · 06/10/2018 22:32

Oh really! Didn't know that pp and I loved that film as a kid Grin

Rose was 60th for girls in England and Wales last year, according to darkgreener so not massively overdone.

RavenWings · 06/10/2018 22:36

It is overdone as a middle name, though.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 06/10/2018 22:37

I really like it. I heard it for the first time recently - a lady in her 50s or so, I think.

squirrelnutkins1 · 06/10/2018 22:38

Briar Rose is really sweet x

Puttheknifedown · 06/10/2018 22:39

Rhymes with liar...

Heratnumber7 · 06/10/2018 22:41

She'll get called Bry, which is horrible. So no.

kikidoyouloveme · 06/10/2018 22:41

I'm so happy its going down well, I wasn't expecting it to. Makes me like it even more! I think it's sweet too, it goes well togetherSmile

OP posts:
Doilooklikeatourist · 06/10/2018 22:42

I like Briar ( Briar Rose especially )
Bryony , with Briar as a nick name would work too

Heratnumber7 · 06/10/2018 22:42

And every second child for the last 20 years has Rose as a second name.

kikidoyouloveme · 06/10/2018 22:44

I thought it was quite popular. I can't think of any other names that would flow well with it

OP posts:
MattBerrysHair · 06/10/2018 22:45

It reminds me of the Brer Rabbit stories. Briar means a thicket of scrambling, thorny bushes like brambles, gorse or dog rose.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 06/10/2018 22:45

No. People will say 'what, Brian? Confused'

And Briar is not a shortening/'nickname' for Briony.
