Husband wants to continue with a C themes as both of us and DD behind with C.
What do you think of Cassie? Or Cairn. Top contenders so far but mainly cause we have no others Hmm

Why would you call a child 'pile of stones' ? Confused

Are you thinking 'Cassie' as a standalone name or is it short for anything ? I quite like it - has a nice sound to it, and easy to spell, or to say if you see it written.

Why do you want to give everyone the same initial ? Do you not expect that to get confusing ?

Is Cairn a typo?

Cassie is fine but I'd have it as a short form of a longer name. Cassandra is the obvious one, but Cassiopeia could be an alternative if you can remember how to spell it (I can't!).

Cora & Coliapie are my favourite C names lately

choccybuttonshelpeverything · 03/10/2018 04:33

Yes I know the meaning of cairn... I also know that the meaning of lots of popular names can be a bit iffy...it's is an actual Scottish name though
So I'm guessing it's not a popular choice then.
hubby just likes the idea of us all beginning with C now. Not so unusual to have a theme going on...

Cassie and Cairn feel like opposites on the 'name spectrum' to me. Cassie is very pretty/feminine whereas Cairn sounds 'hard'/masculine.

If you like Cassie, how about:

Carina

Carrie

I love Cassie, if you want a more ‘complete’ name for BC and don’t like Cassandra Cassia is an option. But I think that Cassie is perfectly fine as a full name

choccybuttonshelpeverything · 03/10/2018 07:52

Should've said cairn would've been for a boy Confused

Poppins2016 · 03/10/2018 08:55

Oops, sorry choccybuttons, I'd assumed that you had a one week old (rather than a week to go) and therefore knew the sex, hence thinking Cairn was for a girl! Silly pregnancy insomnia - addles the brain!

I like Cairn for a boy, I've not heard it used as a name before, however it feels unusual without being too 'out there'. I guess the only thing I'd question is whether people would mishear 'Ken' instead, but I don't think that's a 'real' issue (and I think you can hear the difference with the 'a' sound if it's pronounced properly, so...).

auntyflonono · 03/10/2018 09:11

I like Cairn! How about Conrad?

How about Constance for a girl, Connie is lovely.

florascotia2 · 03/10/2018 09:34

Cairn is sometimes used as a name (it's also the name of a type of terrier).
In English it's pronounced 'cairn' (with the vowel sounds as in 'air'). But it's a Gaelic word and in Scottish Gaelic it's usually pronounced 'carrn' (with the vowel sound as in 'car'). This may not matter, of course. And perhaps you know it already. If so, apologies!

I like them both, prefer Cassia as a full name.
