Lex for a boy

We are thinking Alexander, Lex for short. It's a compromise as I love Rex 😂

It's either that or Raife.

Thoughts?

Lex Luther

Wolfiefan · 02/10/2018 21:24

If you name your child Alexander they may prefer the full version, Alex or even Xander.

Rebecca36 · 02/10/2018 21:33

Anasnake, I thought of Lex Luther too.

Alexander is a lovely name. Don't like Lex though.

Shadow1234 · 02/10/2018 21:34

Lex is a good nn. Unfortunately you will not have control over what his school friends might shorten Alexander to.

Saymaname · 02/10/2018 21:34

Always lex Luther

PierreBezukov · 02/10/2018 21:34

I think Lex is very different, in a cool way. It's a strong name.

LeeMiller · 02/10/2018 21:41

Luther.

Sacha is another
nice NN for Alexander.

IggyAce · 02/10/2018 21:48

Alexander is my ds middle name because dh and I couldn’t agree on a nn I wanted xander, dh Lex and we decided everyone else would choose Alex. PP posters are right once he starts school he may decide on a different nn. From experience my dad is Imogen we called her Immy but once she started school requested we use her full name because immy sounded too much like her friend Amy. Now nearly a teen her friends call her idgy or midge.

tartanscot · 02/10/2018 22:07

Love it.

Eleanor90 · 02/10/2018 22:39

I don’t like Lex sorry, but Rex and Rafe are both fab!

MollyHuaCha · 02/10/2018 22:54

Not keen on Lex.

Reaa · 02/10/2018 22:55

I prefer Rex for a boy

Sophronia · 03/10/2018 07:15

I know one in his 70s. I like it.

QueenJulian · 03/10/2018 17:47

It’s really nice. His peers will have no idea who Lex Luther is.

IsabelleSE19 · 03/10/2018 17:50

His peers will have no idea who Lex Luther is. My 7yo certainly would - comic books and related merchandise are rather popular at the moment!

OP - it is a genuine super-villain name. Have you considered Thanos?

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2018 17:51

Yup, I immediately thought lex Luther too.

And I think you need to think through all the abbreviations, and even if you get lex to stick it's going to be something like lexy at school and possibly even by family members when he's small.

Lexy is more a feminine name. He may not thank you.

Theweasleytwins · 03/10/2018 17:55

Alexander was my boy name for this pregnancy but having a dd

Was totally going to shorten to Lex (as in lex luthor) think its cool
