I love Catherine and Rosalie, and not keen on the boys names, sorry.

Shadow1234 · 30/09/2018 22:15

Rosalie and Elijah. Lovely names.
Not too keen on others tbh.

DramaAlpaca · 30/09/2018 22:16

I like all your girls' names apart from Meredith.

The only one of the boys' names I like is Henry.

PippilottaLongstocking · 30/09/2018 22:17

In order (favourite to least favourite)

Girls
-Rosalie
-Isabella
-Meredith
-Catherine
-Genevieve
-Alexandra

Boys
-Elijah
-Henry
-August
-Theodore
-Oscar

All lovely though!

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 30/09/2018 22:18

Sorry but August is awful, and I think more of a girl’s name than a boy’s.

The rest of your names are very nice, my personal favourites are Genevieve and Henry.

Helpmemyhairisterrible · 30/09/2018 22:18

I would have had Roxanne Isobelle if DS had been a girl. Love Henry for a boy

skeete · 30/09/2018 22:28

Rosalie and Oscar are the only ones I like.

SemperIdem · 30/09/2018 22:30

Love Meredith. Isabella is so dull, the rest are nice.

I like all of your boys names except for August.

LeeMiller · 30/09/2018 22:30

I like your girl's names, especially Catherine and Alexandra. Rosaline is not as classic as your other girl's names though, I would go for Rosalind or Rosa. Isabella is pretty but slightly frilly and there are lots of little Izzys and Bellas around.

Love Henry. Like Theodore (nn Theo not Teddy, there are too many already!) And Elijah. Not keen on Oscar, I don't mind Augie but August is quite a harsh sound.

C0untDucku1a · 30/09/2018 22:32

Meredith and Elijah.

starkid · 30/09/2018 22:37

I like:

Alexandra
Genevieve
Rosalie

Elijah

DaniC18 · 30/09/2018 22:49

Thank you for your comments so far. Seems August isn't that popular lol I actually love Augustus but the Gloop association put me off.

Alexandra and Oscar

AfterSchoolWorry · 30/09/2018 22:57

Girls;
Alexandra = clunky and mundane
Meredith = destined to be an accountant
Catherine = nice
Genevieve = lovely
Rosalie = twee
Isabella = bland and overused

Boys;
Theodore = ok
Oscar = see Isabelle
Henry = nice, classic
Elijah = ok
August = prefer Augustine/Augustus

madeoficecream · 30/09/2018 23:01

I LOVE the name August!

I also really like Genevieve

Im not keen on Isabella because its incredibly popular and I know 4 born last year!!

Goostacean · 01/10/2018 02:53

Alexandra - lovely, classic. Wouldn’t use it as I don’t like Alex or Ali, though.
Meredith - don’t like it. I know one who is a boy and one who has history with my DH, so I disapprove on principle Grin
Catherine - pretty but a bit dull...
Genevieve - dramatic!
Rosalie - beautiful, but would likely end up Roz/Rosy which would be a shame.
Isabella - gorgeous

I’d go for either Isabella, or Catherine. Probably Catherine. I love this spelling of it and it feels underused.

I find your boys names all a bit meh, tbh. Sorry!

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/10/2018 10:01

I think you have similar name tastes to me - I already have an Alexandra and several of your names are on my list for number 2

Girls;

Alexandra - Classic and incredibly flexible nickname wise, I still love it. Not rare or odd but not common either, no issues with spelling.

Meredith - simple, pretty, depends how you feel about merry as a nickname

Catherine - nice and flexible (similar to Alexandra) but the multiple spellings issue does put me off a little as my name has many versions and it drives me nuts.

Genevieve - this was on my list but in the end I decided that the different ways people would pronounce it would drive me insane

Rosalie - like, also like Rosalind

Isabella - like but popularity is offputting as once you factor in all the variants of it there are a LOT of them

Boys;
Theodore - love
Oscar - like
Henry - nice, classic
Elijah - not so keen
August - not keen

Sophronia · 01/10/2018 14:16

I like August! I think that’s the best on your boys list.

Love Catherine, Alexandra and Genevieve.

Polkasq · 01/10/2018 14:56

I like

Alexandra
Isabella

Theodore
Henry
Elijah

How about Angus instead of August, or Theodora for a girl?

Josico58 · 01/10/2018 15:10

August makes me think of Ausgustus Gloop!

Theodore is lovely but very 'in' right now.

IggyAce · 01/10/2018 15:51

Love the girls list, however the boys is safe, popular and a bit boring apart from August which I don’t like.

DaniC18 · 01/10/2018 23:01

Thank you for the comments. My front running favourites are Genevieve, Alexandra and Rosalie. Elijah, Henry and Theodore. We spoke about Theodora for a girl but Dora the explorer ruined it for me lol x

They are all nice but Rosalie I think cuppa tea Grin

MollyHuaCha · 01/10/2018 23:11

Alexandra - love
Meredith - especially love
Catherine - love
Genevieve - ok
Rosalie - nah
Isabella - love

Theodore - ok
Oscar - love
Henry - love
Elijah - not really
August - no

Goostacean · 01/10/2018 23:26

Personally I’d drop Rosalie from your shortlist and choose between Alexandra and Genevieve based on your preference for possible/likely nicknames, and how it sounds with your surname. Alexandra is the classic, Genevieve is a bit out there, in my view- but both are beautiful.

I’d rank your boys names: Theodore, Henry, Elijah. Elijah is very “Old Testament” to me, and also makes me think of Elijah Wood. Meh. Theodore is just perfect, I’d only be concerned by excessive popularity.
