French people - Juliette

Could any French people tell me how the name Juliette(/Juliet) is perceived in France please? My husband is half French and isn't convinced by it, but hasn't really been able to articulate why even though he says it's a nice sound. Is it dated? I'm interested to find out more but also accept that if he's just not feeling it, he's just not feeling it. It's been my favourite name for a while and I thought it would be perfect for a little English girl with some French roots.

It probably feels dated to many because it was popular in the 1900s, until it peaked in 1920 and then declined, so people born in the 70s or 80s might associate it with old people. But it has had a revival lately, peaked again in 2000 and is still going strong now (18th in 2017, just above Julia).

If you look at the chart here (www.prenoms.com/prenom/JULIETTE.html), the name peaked in 2000 but is still popular.

I don't think it is dated. It is still popular and probably will not date as much as other names such as Jade or Lilou - it is more "timeless".

Super, thanks all.

I agree, not dated but quite BCBG.

BegoneWeeds · 01/10/2018 21:45

Ok thanks, then I suspect the BCBG vibe might be what's putting him off. (Whereas I'm thinking yes please, I'll have me some of that!)

What's BCBG?

LaDaronne · 02/10/2018 21:10

Bon chic bon genre. A bit sloaney.

NotANotMan · 02/10/2018 22:14

Ah! Thanks

Don't know how perceived in France but I think it's beautiful and perfect in your circumstances.
