Go with your gut hun, every name I picked some one had an opinion, they knew I person at school who was a bully with that name Grin but it's your baby (And DH). In the end I stopped telling people till he was born. Not that it matter but I like it and think it's unusual.

daisypond · 29/09/2018 18:19

I like it a lot. Only know one - who's about 20.

moredoll · 29/09/2018 18:21

I like the name. I don't much like the Ivan I know, but he's in his 40s.

Lunde · 29/09/2018 18:28

I know one - he's Russian doctor and pronounces it Eee-van rather than I-van

piggie88 · 29/09/2018 21:42

I like it! I know an Ivan who is in his 80s, a family friend of my nan’s, and he is such a lovely man!

PinkCalluna · 29/09/2018 21:44

There’s an Ivan at my kid’s school.

It’s a perfectly nice name.

SemperIdem · 29/09/2018 21:45

Ivan The Terrible.

I wouldn’t personally.

Evan?

lottiegarbanzo · 29/09/2018 21:51

I really like it. Ivo as a nn.

Shadow1234 · 29/09/2018 22:47

I dont mind it, but prefer Evan.

RedDwarves · 29/09/2018 23:03

Milat.

But I am Australian. I would suggest that most Australians' first thoughts will be Milat.

Also, Ivan the Terrible.

It's a no from me.

kettleonplease · 30/09/2018 02:10

There's a very famous serial killer in Australia called Ivan, and I've always felt it was quite a fitting name as it sounds so harsh. Sorry :(

Yellowsunredroses · 30/09/2018 08:23

I like Ivor

Rebellia · 30/09/2018 10:58

I like it.

Never met any, but David Cameron's son was called Ivan, wasn't he?

midsomermurderess · 30/09/2018 12:10

Ivan, nn Van, like Van Morrison.

emsyj37 · 30/09/2018 13:04

I have an Ivan. I'm still not sure I like it! He is a lovely little boy though (nearly 2).
I've never heard of Ivan Milat.

Youresocool · 30/09/2018 13:44

I've got a pre school Ivan. But I love strong sounding names. We expected the 'terrible' tag but don't hear it often and usually respond with 'or the Great'. All names have connotations. His sibling shortens to Van sometimes and he's also got a very strong middle name.

MikeUniformMike · 30/09/2018 14:38

I know an Ivan and it's fine.
