I really like the name Terese, nn Tess.
But I have heard several pronunciations.

How would you pronounce it?

Teh-rez

DramaAlpaca · 21/09/2018 22:01

I'd pronounce it Ter-RAYZ, and I'd spell it Therese.

I really like just Tess on its own though, it's beautiful.

passwordfailure · 21/09/2018 22:02

Tehrez - I'd spell it Therese.

lilax · 21/09/2018 23:07

I'd pronounce it teh-reez.

Tess is much better on its own Smile

elQuintoConyo · 21/09/2018 23:12

Teh-rez.

But i'm in Spain where it is pronounced thus*

  • am aware i sound like a twat!

But if you like Terese, why nn her Tess? Just call her Tess. My friend Terese is shortened to Tere: teh-reh

louiscatpaws · 23/09/2018 02:02

I'm with DramaAlpaca on all counts.

OlennasWimple · 23/09/2018 04:48

Ter-RAYZ spelt with an H

LeeMiller · 23/09/2018 05:56

Teh-rez

Terry is the obvious shortening, not Tess.
Just Tess (or Tessa) is much nicer.

HeronLanyon · 23/09/2018 07:50

Ter-rayz (with a slight roll aroind the r even ! ). Lovely name. Some will call her teh-reese I would guess. Nns Reece (which would make teh-Reece pronounciation more likely. ray, Teri. Pretty name.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 23/09/2018 08:22

Teh-RAYS. Spelled Therese with an acute accent on the first E (pointing up) and a grave accent on the second E (pointing down). Sorry I have a new phone and haven't figured out how to do accents.

Frazzled2207 · 23/09/2018 09:00

Te-Rez

Needs the h IMO

Bachstelze · 24/09/2018 06:57

Spelled Therese with an acute accent on the first E (pointing up) and a grave accent on the second E (pointing down).

That's the French way, but in France it would be considered extremely dated (peaked in the 30s).

raviolidreaming · 24/09/2018 23:11

I'd sayteh-reez, because I say teh-reez-a for Theresa.

jadedgranger · 25/09/2018 15:35

Like a slow version of Trees
