Help me!

I'm only 20 weeks so plenty of time to choose but just found out we're having a lovely baby girl!

Now, what do I call her? My favourite name of all time is Emily, the name I've always wanted since being young but my husband just doesn't like it! I'm gutted but obviously we need to pick something we both love.

We both quite like Emma but I don't love it like I do Emily.

I have a son called Joshua so looking for something that goes and isn't too out there!

Would appreciate any suggestions xxx

Well I'm an Emma and was always very glad I wasn't an Emily Grin Emma is a fairly classic name, if I ever have a dd she will be Alice

Yakadee · 21/09/2018 15:23

@Squ1ggle - nice name 😊

I do really like that name it just seems hard to move past the name I'd had my heart set on.

Emma goes really nice with our surname too. It is our current no 1 x

I like Emma a lot.
Also... Emmeline, Emilia, Amelie, Ember, Romily, Emerald, Millie, Evelyn, Adelaide

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/09/2018 09:29

Emma is lovely, timeless and classy.
Emily reminds me of Emily Bishop (Corrie).

Yakadee · 22/09/2018 17:58

@Sugarpiehoneyeye - I didn't think of that Haha.

@Ricekrispie22 - thanks for your suggestions. X

Sorry @Yakadee. 😂🌸

OhNoGroken · 22/09/2018 18:06

I also love Emily.

What about Eleanor? Elise? Emmy? Emmeline?

AuntieStella · 22/09/2018 18:13

I think you might find it hard to choose an Emily name that isn't Emily IYSWIM.

So some completely other names which I think go with Joshua are:

Tabitha, Elizabeth, Mariah, Cassie, Hannah, Miriam, Saskia

Threeandabit · 22/09/2018 18:32

Romilly
Amy - Means "Worthy of love".
Genevieve
Ashleigh
Greta - An anagram of Great!
Alma - Means "Soul, nourishing, kind"

I love the meaning of Emma. It means "Universal, whole". Lovely if she is going to complete your family.

Yakadee · 22/09/2018 18:38

@AuntieStella - Hannah is on our list actually.

@Threeandabit - that's cute and yes she will be too x

Would hubby go for Amelie or Emilia, both sound quite similar to Emily.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 22/09/2018 19:50

I love Emily and also Anna, Rosa and Clara.

Shadow1234 · 23/09/2018 01:24

Prefer Emily to Emma.

Amelie is a nice alternative. Also like Hailey or Ashleigh.

madeoficecream · 23/09/2018 01:29

Amelia, Amelie, Adelaide, Millie, Matilda?

Harriet, Heidi, Anna, Cora, Tabitha, Sophia

Yakadee · 23/09/2018 09:47

These are all great - thanks everyone x

Emma is lovely. I'm not so keen on Emily.

daisypond · 23/09/2018 19:23

I prefer Emma to Emily as well. Otherwise Amelia? It's been popular recently, but I do like it. Or something different like Romilly or Rosalie?

SilverySurfer · 23/09/2018 19:24

I like Emily.

There was a Roma on a tv programme I watched recently which I thought was nice and refreshingly non twee but without veering into a boy's name..

Yakadee · 23/09/2018 19:54

I do really like Emma. My friend mentioned that Emma combined with my surname is also the name of a celebrity that's been in the new recently for violently abusing her bf! That's just what I wanted to know! X

O Emma Roberts?!

Icklepup · 23/09/2018 19:59

Emma is lovely.

Yakadee · 23/09/2018 20:01

@Crystalblue13 - yes! I love my surname (so much nicer than my maiden name!) and lots of names go with it thankfully! Why couldn't she just be a nice woman! X

Joshua and Emily sound nice together.

How about Annie, Ellie, Olivia, Isabelle?

scrivette · 23/09/2018 20:03

I haven't ever heard of Emma Roberts so I wouldn't let it put you off.

Emma is very nice and a classic name.

I am on a mission to bring back 'Sally' I think it's lovely.

Yakadee · 23/09/2018 20:04

@LottieIsMyName - thanks, we already have a few of those names in my family and the others are the names of close friends children. It's really hard isn't it x
