How do you pronounce Alyssa

Is it A-lissa with a short 'a' or Aleesha or some other pronunciation? I love the look of the name written down but not sure how most would pronounce it at first sight. Thanks!

Dd1 had an Alyssa in her class and it was a-lissa, short a at the start.

I would pronounce it a-lissa. Alicia is a similar name that has two pronunciations, a-leesha and a-lissia, but I can't see how you could get any other pronunciation than a-lissa from Alyssa.

The only one I know of is Alyssa Milano (US actress, Phoebe in 'Charmed') and that's how hers is pronounced.

The only one I know is A-lissa and that's how I'd instinctively pronounce it.
