I used Deanna rather than Danielle in my school dance magic spell gender transformation story where a Danny falls victim to a wizard teaching him a lesson, because i like it better than Danielle.

Thoughts on Deanna?

Is it pronounced Dee-Anna or Dean-A?

SleepWarrior · 20/09/2018 15:53

Nice, although my mind goes instantly to Star Trek!

Unknownunknowns · 20/09/2018 16:57

I know Deanna who pronounces it Dean-A. But if I saw it written down before I knew her I think I would've pronounced it Dee- Anna.
Either way, I like the name.

MollyHuaCha · 20/09/2018 16:57

It's ok.

PinkBuffalo · 20/09/2018 17:12

I'm another whi immediately thought Star Trek TNG!

PasteSandwiches · 20/09/2018 17:16

Reminds me of a flight of the conchords song - Deana and Ian.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 20/09/2018 17:31

School dance magic spell gender transformation story? Sounds fascinating!

Deanna makes me think Star Trek too.

daisypond · 20/09/2018 18:20

I'd pronounce it Dee-anna on first thought. Is Diana any good?

Racecardriver · 20/09/2018 18:23

I prefer Daniella tbh. Deanna just sounds like Diana mispronounced to me. You could also consider Dana if the story will have a repeat performance.

kiltedsheep · 20/09/2018 18:47

Another one for Star Trek! But I loved that character so I think the name is lovely.

My best mate's called Daniella and she spent some of her childhood being Dani-smella. But now she lives in Canada where everyone pronounces it 'Dun-yella' rather than 'Danny-ella'. And little kids are little shits; they'll find a way to insult you, whatever your name happens to be

Johndoe10 · 20/09/2018 18:49

I think Deanna is more current

LeeMiller · 20/09/2018 21:21

Deanna, I think of the Nick Cave song.

Daniella feels dated.

moredoll · 21/09/2018 02:41

Deanna Durbin, 50s actress.

I like it.

lawrencecostin · 21/09/2018 10:03

in my story, the teenage boy tries to use magic to get his dream female prom date and the wizard teaches him a lesson about reducing teenage girls to romance fantasies by having the spell turn him into the female date he asked for (long hair, sizable breasts etc.)

Deanna is my niece's name. She gets lots of compliments.

MariaYouveGottaSeeHer · 21/09/2018 10:22

I prefer Daniella or Danielle. Does he have to be called Danny? If you want matching names for either gender but don’t like Danielle or Daniella, could you use something else entirely?
