I saw this name in a baby book and I keep going back to it! I think I really like it but I'm not sure!
What are your thoughts?

Love it! Also love Merritt

loveshinealight · 18/09/2018 22:55

I prefer Morven!

mistermagpie · 18/09/2018 22:57

I'm in Scotland and I know a few people called Mirren which is very similar, I really like it.

NastyCats · 18/09/2018 23:02

A friend has Meredith but with Merry for short, which I love. You can also have Meredyth. I think Merryn is a bit too abrupt and reminds me of 'mirrin'.

PassportBridgetPants · 18/09/2018 23:06

I love it but DH says it reminds him of the Muireann debacle from 'Catastrophe' so it's off the list! Angry

Ladydepp · 18/09/2018 23:07

Love it, reminds me of Erin which I've always liked.

mirren3 · 18/09/2018 23:23

Ah, came on to say the same as mistermagpie also in Scotland and love Mirren. If I'd had a daughter she'd have been Mirren, didn't though so used it for the cat.

Eleanor90 · 18/09/2018 23:34

Looove!

BlueUggs · 18/09/2018 23:45

laythemstraight · 18/09/2018 23:57

DramaAlpaca · 18/09/2018 23:58

I like it.

Velvetbee · 19/09/2018 00:07

Lovely

smorgasborgen · 19/09/2018 08:05

Thanks for your replies! I feel like if a baby was announced on Facebook I'd think wow lovely! But because it's mine I'm over thinking the word! Driving me mad! X

NuffingChora · 19/09/2018 15:54

Great name.

NotWeavingButDarning · 19/09/2018 19:42

I'm super picky about names, but I love it.

Glumglowworm · 19/09/2018 22:54

I think it’s gorgeous

I’ve only ever met one (adult) but it’s a lovely name

smorgasborgen · 20/09/2018 17:21

Thank you so much everyone. I don't know why I'm dithering so much I just always thought I would just know what to call my kid.
Thought I was quite nice t b born at Christmas and have the shortened name of merry as well. Hopefully that wouldn't b too 'cute'!

I really like it. Also love Meredith which is similar. I only know one Merryn. A 2 year old

libertine80 · 21/09/2018 12:48

It's my 6 year old daughters name - named after the Cornish village of Saint Merryn. We've never met another one although there is the beautifulmy named economist Merryn Somerset Webb. Always a lot of compliments on Merryn's name. Normally have to spell it out but I'm used to that now.

Nightlights · 21/09/2018 12:55

It's a lovely, happy Cornish name. Was my no 1 choice but can't use it because of somebody close. Go for it!

SilverHairedCat · 21/09/2018 12:56

Grew up with a Merryn. Lovely Cornish name. I know a boy and a girl, so can be either I assume.

pandarific · 21/09/2018 14:17

I know a Merran (Irish). She is lovely, very intelligent and pretty - it's unusual but phonetically spelled. Use it if you love it, it's a lovely name.

ladycarlotta · 21/09/2018 15:09

@PassportBridgetPants haha the Muireann thing made me laugh and laugh. But I don't think Merryn's like that.

libertine80 · 21/09/2018 16:47

It's definitely not like Muireann. Never had any pronunciation issues.
