Hi there so I had my first we girl 2017 and named her after my granda his name was George so my daughter is called Georgia.

I’m now pregnant with my 2nd girl and I would like a female version of Richard as my dad is Richard.

Any ideas?? Thanks 😀

I’m personally not fond of Ricky/ricki

Does your dad have a middle name?

mathanxiety · 16/09/2018 07:35

Nina (as in Ricci).

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 16/09/2018 07:41

Richildis
Erica

borntobequiet · 16/09/2018 07:42

Ricarda is nice, without the harsh sounding in the middle.

RomyAndJulio · 16/09/2018 07:44

What’s his middle name? What was his mother’s name?

TwoBlueShoes · 16/09/2018 07:46

Is there something else associated with your dad that you could use? Something he liked, a place, a flower, a song?

LoveAlwaysx · 16/09/2018 07:54

Dad’s middle names is John. And his mother is Margaret but me and my granny don’t really get along so that isn’t an option.

My middle name is Dawn. It’s okay I’m not going to go for the Richard theme!

Joanne/Joanna are female forms of John.

LadyDuplo · 16/09/2018 08:01

Richella

Richilde en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richilde,_Countess_of_Hainaut

PassportBridgetPants · 16/09/2018 08:19

Georgia and Erica sound good together

noego · 16/09/2018 08:23

Richendra

I think its pronounced RISHENDRA

MerryMarigold · 16/09/2018 08:31

You could honour your Dad in a different way. Why don't you ask him/ your parents to give a middle name?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/09/2018 09:07

Richelle
Richie
Rachel
Richmael

gigi556 · 16/09/2018 09:09

I have an aunt called Richelle. She goes by Ricky but it's a beautiful name :)

Batteriesallgone · 16/09/2018 09:54

Joan / Joanna would be an easy one, for John. I imagine Dawn would be quite an uncommon name for babies now - I’ve got three young children and not come across a baby Dawn. So it would be a bit ‘different’ if that appeals to you.

CassandraCross · 16/09/2018 12:01

I quite like Richelle and Richendra.

RoomWithALoon · 16/09/2018 14:29

I know a Richa (pronounced Risha). She's Jewish though, so I think it might be a very Jewish name and possibly a bit of an odd choice if you're not Jewish. But it's a lovely name!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/09/2018 14:59

Honestly, I would wouldn't lumber a girl with the female version of Richard. They are all awful. Just give her her own name.

Synecdoche · 16/09/2018 15:06

I would choose a different first name and use Richard as a middle name. I have my grandfather's name as my middle name and I've always liked it!

Glowerglass · 16/09/2018 15:07

How about Richmal like Richmal Crompton who wrote the Just William books?

I like it!

JungMum · 16/09/2018 15:11

What about Alba for Dawn?

I really like Margaret, Greta, Maggie, Magaly, Daisy, they're all lovely.

I like Richard for a boy but it doesn't work for a girl. if you were Italian Riccarda might be less odd, but still a bit clunky really.

DragonScales · 16/09/2018 17:59

Richelle

Or maybe just ask him if he would like to name his granddaughter - that way he's still giving her a name

BabloHoney · 16/09/2018 19:03

Dixie?

Agree with others though, it’s doesn’t have the best female versions.

DianaBlythe · 16/09/2018 19:12

In Scotland you’d give his surname as a middle name, so many women have a man’s name/unisex/surname as a middle name. Would that be an option?
