Hi there so I had my first we girl 2017 and named her after my granda his name was George so my daughter is called Georgia.

I’m now pregnant with my 2nd girl and I would like a female version of Richard as my dad is Richard.

Any ideas?? Thanks 😀

Rachel?

How about naming her after your Mum for a first name and Richard/Richie as a middle name.

EarlyModernParent · 15/09/2018 21:21

Richenda
Ricayla

Richenda is the female form of Richard, as far as I know.

CantankerousCamel · 15/09/2018 21:24

Deborah

madeoficecream · 15/09/2018 21:26

My first thought was Rachael

I guess you could use Ritchie or Ricki?

CassandraCross · 15/09/2018 21:28

Ricarda (Spanish)
Riccarda (Italian)
Richenda

Or use Rikki/Ricky. Wasn't there an American (I think) woman on TV called Rikki Lake.

Richard means : ruler, strong, powerful could you find a female name that means those things?

feellikeanalien · 15/09/2018 21:29

Ricarda or Rikki?

BusySittingDown · 15/09/2018 21:30

Ricarda?

LoveAlwaysx · 15/09/2018 21:31

It’s so hard cause Richard hasn’t a girly tone about it at all haha! Just playing around, I like Ricki-Grace but when I say it it’s a bit of a tongue twister

Isn’t Phil Mitchell’s lawyer on eastenders called Ritchie?

No reason it can’t be a girls name

AtticaRose · 15/09/2018 21:33

Behindthename.com suggests Richelle or Riccarda/Ricarda.

I personally wouldn't do this. Is there a grandmother to honour instead?

Or, slightly more out of the box, choose a name with the same meaning? Ric is "rule/power" and hard is "brave". Are there names you like with these meanings? Eg Matilda is "strong in battle".

Or other names with the "ric" (or rex) element, like:
Frederica
Federica
Enrica
Henrietta
Regina
Rionach
Kerry

Rochelle

Batteriesallgone · 15/09/2018 21:40

I thought of Matilda, as similar meaning.

I can see that Deborah works too.

If you want the sound ‘rich’ Tricia might work

QueenOfMyWorld · 15/09/2018 21:41

Rikki,Richie

KingBobra · 15/09/2018 21:44

Erica, nickname Ricki?

QueenOfMyWorld · 15/09/2018 21:44

Rico? Pronounced reeco? It's the Portuguese pronunciation

AtticaRose · 15/09/2018 21:48

Still thinking of some more "ric/reg/rex" ones...

Erica
Rhiannon
Regan
Rica

MissLingoss · 15/09/2018 21:51

Richardine? It is, or was, an actual name; I came across it when doing fami!y history.

Aragog · 15/09/2018 21:52

From online:

Richard derives from German, French, and English "ric" (ruler, leader, king, powerful) and "hard" (strong, brave, hardy), and it therefore means "strong in rule"

Richard, correctly, only forms two feminine names - Ricarda and Richenda. It is, these days, fairly widely thought that names like Ricky and Rikki came from Richard, and it is obvious to see why ... although Eric is responsible for them.

The meaning of the name Richelle is: “Rich and Powerful ruler; Derivative: Feminine form of Richard”.
