Girl version of Richard help!

LoveAlwaysx · 15/09/2018 21:19

Hi there so I had my first we girl 2017 and named her after my granda his name was George so my daughter is called Georgia.

I’m now pregnant with my 2nd girl and I would like a female version of Richard as my dad is Richard.

Any ideas?? Thanks 😀

None of my business whatsoever, but I'm a bit perplexed as to why you'd name two girls after their granddads instead of their grandmas? Probably am BU for even asking, though.

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 16/09/2018 00:35

I know of a 6 year old called Richanne...

Goostacean · 16/09/2018 02:04

I think Richanne is probably the best of a bad lot, I’m afraid OP!

Agree with question asked by pp, does it have to be your dad...? Funnily enough mine is also Richard and I’d never call a girl after him.

Mind you, James can apparently be a girl’s name these days, so maybe you can set the trend??

Fanny.

Because Richard -> Dick, right?

Sorry, it's late and I've been Wine Grin

moredoll · 16/09/2018 03:06

It's Richarda. Hasn't been used for years, probably because it's ghastly.

Agree about using the grandmother's name instead if possible. Then you could bury Richarda as a middle name or indeed just use Richard for the middle name.

I like Richmal, and I sort of like Rikki.

moredoll · 16/09/2018 03:19

Rashida is lovely and goes well with Georgia.

IVflytrap · 16/09/2018 03:22

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richeldis ?

As well as Richeldis, "Other similar names in use at the time included Richelde, Richilda, Richilde, Richildis and Rychelde."

Personally, though, I would go with Rachel....

Ricki-Grace makes me think of Ricki Lake, btw.

Sophronia · 16/09/2018 03:35

Richenza

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/09/2018 03:39

No women in the family who deserve a mention? Only men? DD's middle name is my mother's.

SleepWarrior · 16/09/2018 03:43

Maybe use the 'char' bit of Richard and name her Charlotte? Then Ricky as a middle name.

Or Char and then Ri (so swapping the name round) and getting Charri, which could become Charity. Sorry, perhaps a bit tenuous!

MerryMarigold · 16/09/2018 03:51

Best bet is Rikki as a middle name

LoveAGoodChat · 16/09/2018 06:00

Richardris (rich ar dris)

Rebecca36 · 16/09/2018 06:08

Richela. You don't hear it nowadays but was a popular name in days gone by, there were a couple of famous Richelas.

I think it's a lovely name.

Another vote for using a grandma name but if you want female Richard why not use 'Richard'?

Michael Michele seems to have done OK with a 'boy' name.

Izzygrey · 16/09/2018 06:41

I'd definitely go with a name that has the same meaning, rather than naming a little girl Richie or something. I'm sure your dad will understand! So many lovely girl names with the same meaning as Richard -
Althea
Audrey
Briana
Marcella
Matilda
Maude
Neiman
Rainey
Valencia
Valeria
Zaila

I was just wondering what use could come up with i don’t think I will be using any tbh. My mum is Dawn and my granny is Margaret (me and my granny don’t really get along) but I just feel my dad is the best man and he is always there for me, of course if I had a boy it would be far easier cause I would automatically put Richard as the middle name.

Thanks for the ideas tho x

Richard just isn’t a name that has a pleasant feminine version. They’re all pretty ugly.

What about the baby’s father’s side of the family?
Or to honour your dad specifically, ask him to choose a name?

TwoBlueShoes · 16/09/2018 07:18

How about Rachel? It has the R and the ch.

glasshalfsomething · 16/09/2018 07:21

Erica feels like a good option.

LoveAlwaysx · 16/09/2018 07:23

My partners mum is Margaret and his dad was Thomas.

There no urge to name her after anyone I was just playing around with the name Richard to see what use could come up with but I agree it isn’t very girly

It's French and and 'e' on the end makes it the feminine version.
Richarde is quite dated though and probably doesn't sound much different to an English ear unless you pronounce it properly.
I'd go for a 'char' sounds so Charlotte or a name you can shorten to Riri

LoveAlwaysx · 16/09/2018 07:25

My daughter Georgia has Patricia as her middle name who was my mums mum so haven’t forgotten about the women lol

None of my business whatsoever, but I'm a bit perplexed as to why you'd name two girls after their granddads instead of their grandmas? Probably am BU for even asking, though.*
Why do they have to be named after their grandmothers just cos their female?

I'm named after my grandfather, well actally i'm named after both my moms parents just my her dads name comes first in my name. So my name is something like joanna Fay grandad being Joseph and grandma being Faith. (Not my real name) it was just something my parents wanted to do and why not. My grandad was awesome kept the family together, mum had a much closer bond with him than she did her mum.

Funnily enough the grandad i was named after was known by his middle name Richard/Dick in the uk but known by his first name in ireland where was from and i was given the female version of his first name. So i cant help with a name, although looking at suggestions here prehaos thats why they didnt use his middke name the name he was known as in this country.

Actually OP, could you do sonething similar whats your dads middle name is that easier to feminise?

Littlelambpeep · 16/09/2018 07:32

Dawn would be lovely middle name.
I don't really like any of the names above.
