What do people think of Ellen. I know many prefer Helen, but didn't Ellen come first?

I prefer Ellen to Helen, but to me it just falls into the Ella, Ellie category, and there are so many of those.

Prefer Ellen to Helen as there were so many of the latter at school with me in the 80s. Nell is a nice diminutive.

I think Ellen and Helen are both just anglicisations of Eleni. Ellen maybe later than Helen.

I really like it - it's a bit plainer/more elegant than Ellie or Ella which I find a bit cute and fluffy.
