Me thinks names are the least of your worries op!

cakemurderer · 14/09/2018 13:01

I doubt we'll have time to think about names once babies are here so I'm thinking it'll be better to decide now.
Plus I don't trust myself to pick sensible names when sleep deprived

Viola, Portia and Sebastian.

From your list I love Evander but with a Lysander already it's too many syllables similar.

clary · 14/09/2018 13:26

I'm not keen on Iphegenia - her dad murdered her so he could go and fight a war - and agree it's Portia, she was Brutus's wife so it's got a good pedigree.

There are some great suggestions on here OP! Congratulations!!

Icklepup · 14/09/2018 14:43

Raffaella, Delphine and Evander
:)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/09/2018 14:53

@Lovea good chat.
It's Pronounced Effer-gin-ear
I thought it was Hi-pig-hen-jeer. Like i used to think Persephone was pn Perse-a Phone.BlushGrin
Oh That could be a name for Op. Do you that (Persephone)

FrederickCreeding · 14/09/2018 14:59

I like Iphigeneia, Raffaella and Mathis best from your list.

Just be aware that Portia (sounds just like Porsche) and Mercedes would not be a great combination!

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 14/09/2018 15:12

How about:
Need Sleep nn Ned
Or Even More Sleep nn Evan
Literally Shattered nn Lily
Or Absolutely Exhausted nn Alexa

meetthewildes · 14/09/2018 15:20

Congratulations!

We also have a little Lysander. His twin is named Balthazar, would that appeal to you? I'll throw out some other names from our list - we also considered Stellan, Jolyon, Benedict, Ariel, Peregrine and Percival.

A few girl ideas: Evadne, Ariadne, Echo, Olympia, Hestia, Daphne.

LeeMiller · 14/09/2018 15:34
  • Raffaella is nice, Delphine fine.
  • Porcia is too much like porcine/porky. Portia is better.
-Mercedes - car, I wouldn't use unless you're Spanish. -Iphigeneia - ugly sound and looks like a medical condition.

Paloma
Cassandra
Euphemia
Demetra
Leontine
Minerva
Guinevere
Antonella
Ginevra
Octavia

Boys

  • Emanuel, Mathis, Marcello ok
  • Evander -the boxer. sounds a bit too similar to Lysander.

Antonio
Octavio
Peregrine
Cassius
Lucian
Caspian
Andreas
Florian
Hugo
Perseus

Rockyroadmallow · 14/09/2018 18:00

I love Delphine
Mercedes is only not tacky if you're Spanish and pronounce it in the Spanish way IMO

I'm not keen on your boys names but Marcelo isn't too bad. I would say Mathis but it reminds me of Johnny Mathis

anatol · 14/09/2018 18:07

I would assume from many of the suggestions that the OP likely is Spanish or of Spanish descent at least?

cakemurderer · 14/09/2018 18:23

We're not Spanish but not British either, though we do live here and will for at least the next few years.

I'd pronounce Iphigenia kind of like 'Ee fee jee nee ah'

I like Persephone but only pronounced the wrong way so maybe not Blush

How would you pronounce Mercedes in your native language OP? I think it's lovely if pronounced correctly

MrsSarahSiddons · 14/09/2018 18:47

It’s time for a revival of Edwardian names.
Cyril, Basil and Violet.
Cecil, Humphrey and Edith

Moonflower12 · 14/09/2018 20:30

Oh I love Raffaella. I have a girl in my class called it. I keep saying her name It's lovely.

midsomermurderess · 14/09/2018 22:35

Raffaella and Marcello are my favourites

SleepWarrior · 15/09/2018 01:23

Evander a little similar to Lysander as others have said. It's nice though. Maybe Evadne for a girl instead (Ee-VAD-nee)?

Really like Delphine. Rafael for a boy is slightly nicer than Rafaela for a girl to me. Maybe Matisse for a boy?
