Sophia to me says that the parents are British.
I'd assume Sofia's parents were foreign

Both pretty.

I think Sophie sounds quite English, Sofia sounds Spanish and Sophia I guess seems like an anglicised version of Sofia.

I have a 26 year old Sofia and I'm English. I liked the spelling.

Both are pretty tbh.

Rosemary46 · 12/09/2018 18:31

Sophia

I prefer Sofia, but both are equally pretty and fine. Just pick the one that you like the best. Both are well known enough that whichever way you spell it, others may get it wrong. But that can happen with many names.

One of my DC has a Sophie, a Sophia and a Sofia in their class.

The first two get calles by just their name,
but poor Sofia seems to get called Sofia-with-an-F all the time. I'd avoid it on that basis as she's going to come across other Sophias - her 'F' will be the easy distinguishing factor.

implantsandaDyson · 12/09/2018 19:13

I have a teenage Sofia occasionally shortened to Fia. I would know maybe 4 Sophia's and 2 Sofias. All would be 8 or younger.

AnyaMoondial · 12/09/2018 19:30

Both great but Sofia looks prettier I think.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 12/09/2018 19:34

Sofia is how Disney spell it- id always lean towards Sophia

IRememberSoIDo · 12/09/2018 19:46

I've a Sophia. She's crazy!

LeeMiller · 12/09/2018 20:16

I prefer Sophie or Sofia. With an accent on the i I'd guess you were Spanish.

butlerswharf · 12/09/2018 20:18

I like both. They were on my list!

Agustarella · 13/09/2018 19:58

Sofia looks foreign, Spanish or Italian. Might seem odd if you had an English surnamd, although maybe not since it's become so popular.

I have a teenage Sophia.

LittleDonkeyKong · 13/09/2018 21:47

One of my nieces is Sophia and that is the obvious way to spell it for most British people

hoping2018 · 13/09/2018 21:54

Sophia is British. Sofia to me is non british.

In England is very popular at the moment - I know three born in the last few months alone!!!

sunshine555 · 17/09/2018 16:44

Sofia. It’s a Greek name and they don’t use ph for an f, only an f. Plus i think it looks better. My Sofia is 3.

Sungura · 17/09/2018 17:22

Both are fine. I spell it Sophia automatically, though.
