How popular is Arthur? He often will it get shortened to Art/Artie?

I think it is quite popular in my area but I LOVE it! I wouldn't ever shorten it at all

My son is Arthur,
He is the only one in his school. (though there is another in our largish village who goes to a different school) so not overly popular,
It never got shortened to Art or Artie as we didn't like those nicknames.
Even now he is older to choose his own nickname should he want, he says he doesn't like those and chooses to use his full name of Arthur.

Very very popular here- at least one in each class of primary and up to about year 9. Don't think any of them are Artie.

It's definitely spiked in popularity the last couple years but I don't think it's one of those names that will have several in a class. I don't know any personally, only going by mumsnet and the Scottish stats x

I have an Arthur and he’s the only one in his class and the only one in our smallish village. He only ever goes by Arthur, never Art or Artie.

ZebraKid71 · 12/09/2018 14:27

It's the most popular boys name in the baby and toddler groups near me - though I've never heard any of them being shortened.

Sunflower321 · 12/09/2018 14:46

Becoming quite popular.

I've never heard it shortened either. It's so easy to say, there's no need to! I don't like Art, too close to Fart.

I don't know any.
