charlottetaylor93 · 11/09/2018 21:01

OH and I struggling to decide on name for first daughter! He is Italian so name has to work in English and Italian. Middle name is definitely Daphne for family reasons. Top contenders are-

Valentina (OH's fave)
Eloisa (I love this - too weird though?)
Cordelia
Aurora
Beatrix

Thoughts and suggestions please!

Alessia?
Eloisa sounds very pretty (although not my cup of tea) and doesn’t seem too weird at all

Luciana

All your names are lovely

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 11/09/2018 21:32

I love Valentina. I would choose that.

pollysproggle · 11/09/2018 21:33

I love the name Allegra! I think it's both strong and beautiful.

I've always wanted it but doesn't sound good with my boring English surname (and I don't have any daughters..yet).

Eloisa is very pretty!

malaguena · 11/09/2018 21:35

I love Chiara and Allegra. Out of your list Valentina is my fave, also sounds more “Italian” to me than the others

WineGummyBear · 11/09/2018 21:37

Leonora

MothershipG · 11/09/2018 21:39

Rossella

Electrascoffee · 11/09/2018 21:41

I have a half Italian dd who I named Isabella. But that may be a bit too popular. From your list I like Valentina.

Viviana
Giovanna
Sophia

RuthW · 11/09/2018 21:42

Eloisa I love and definitely not weird, actually I'd say it's the most traditional from your list.

NinaMarieP · 11/09/2018 21:43

Arianna

AdaColeman · 11/09/2018 21:45

I like Valentina, some other pretty names are Chiara, Carlotta, Letizia.

RavenWings · 11/09/2018 21:45

I second Chiara, Allegra, Leonora, Rossella and Alessia.

Valentina - love this
Eloisa - I think atm anything El- runs the risk of being Ellie, and that is generic and boring. Eloisa by itself is nice enough but not coming close to some of your other options.
Cordelia - nice enough
Aurora - always think this looks prettier written than it actually sounds.
Beatrix - ok. Second least favourite here.

RickOShay · 11/09/2018 21:45

Love Valentina.
What about Chiara or Gioia?

RavenWings · 11/09/2018 21:46

Ooh and Letizia!

Smellybean · 11/09/2018 21:46

Giusi.

TheRedHatofPatFerrick · 11/09/2018 21:47

Enza
Filomena
Rosanna
Maria
Daria
Liliana

EMS23 · 11/09/2018 22:13

Elisa
I'm Elisa Margaret - named after my Nonna and my Grandma - Italian and Irish respectively.

From your list, I love Eloisa .

Kewqueue · 11/09/2018 22:16

I've never come across Eloise or Beatrix in Italy but I like them both. I also like Liliana, Ada and Elettra.

LeeMiller · 11/09/2018 22:34

Valentina - beautiful. The obvious nicknames in English - Val/Tina - are less so, so I'd pick and promote an alternative nn (the Italian ones I know are Vale, but you could have Leni or Vivi)
Eloisa - nice, but there are lots of little Ellies and Ellas around
Cordelia - ok
Aurora - fine
Beatrix - nice, but the Italian pronunciation would be a bit different.

I also love:
Eleonora
Clara
Diletta
Francesca
Greta
Gaia
Ginevra
Matilde
Alessandra
Arianna
Viola
Serafina
Serena

charlottetaylor93 · 11/09/2018 22:44

I love Eleonora! OH not so keen but maybe can budge him... Ditto I adored Serena but he says everyone will think of Serena Williams (I think that's a good thing personally!) will also run Clara by him as that's lovely and similar-ish to Cordelia

Glad you like Valentina! Lots of people giving it a positive response which is pushing it up in my ranking. Think Chiara would be hard because my family is Irish so they would assume Ciara for spelling although it's a beautiful name

Luciana or Lucia are my favourite Italian names. Also Sophia.

How about:

Silvia

Mummyamy123 · 11/09/2018 22:51

Glumglowworm · 11/09/2018 22:52
