Hi, we have our boy name but if baby is a girl then we’re a bit stuck. There are lots of names we ‘really like’ but none of them that i seem to love and think ‘that’s the one’. I do like short and sweet names such as May and Rose as first names but they don’t sound right with our one syllable surname. And I had always loved Lily from being a little girl, every doll I had was named Lily and it was always going to be my girls name but the popularity has put me off now.

Here’s my list if you could give me any suggestions please:

Imogen. Etty. Ivy. Maggie. Violet. Lily. Maeve. Rosie. Eliza. Olive. Iris. June. Betsy. Alice. Ada. Delilah. Penelope. Phoebe. Felicity. Daphne. Harriet. Aurelia. Cora. Vivienne. Florence. Laurel. Margot. Juliet.

Thanks x

Imogen is a beautiful name

IggyAce · 09/09/2018 09:59

Love Imogen but I’m biased. Also like Alice and Felicity from your list.
I suggest: Rebecca, Barbara and Rosalie.

Lovely girls name list!
If we had a girl we were going to name her Juliette (Lettie).
How about Lilia/ Lilya instead of just Lily- seems more Russian princess.
What about Lara- my SIL name, classic, beautiful and short but slightly more flowing with 2 syllables.
What about Rosa instead of Rosie- a bit different, classic and less twee.
From the rest of your list I like Imogen, Etty, Felicity, Daphne and Margot.

I think Lily is the one because its your favourite - it doesn't matter how many other Lily's there are out their - your Lily will always be special to you.

If you pick something else then you'll start to notice how many other people have the same name. It's like when you buy a certain brand of car - you start to notice all the other cars that are the same.

Even if you choose a less popular name it might become more popular over time.

Go with your heart.

Lily. I was going to suggest Susannah before I realised I'd missed the bit about you loving the name Lily, but it means 'lily'.

Gobletoffire · 09/09/2018 14:36

Wow everyone has been so much help so far, definitely like the pairing up idea. Thanks! Xxx
