Baby girl due in the next couple of weeks and I think we have a shortlist (although can change daily!) We have a DS called Lewis and my our shortlist for his sister is in no particular order:

Ailsa
Anna
Alice
Ella

Do they go ok with Lewis? and any suggestions for a middle name? Could I use for example Anna Alisa G or is the double AA sound odd?

What's your favourite or any suggestions for alternatives also welcome Smile

I like Ailsa with Lewis! Both lovely Scottish names.

Also love Anna. I think AA initials would be fine.

Anna Alisa isn't just double A, both names start and end with A. So it's quadruple A. I find that too many As. Grin It doesn't flow really.

Any classic middle name without a vowel at the start and without an A at the end would sound good -

Louise
Katherine or Kate
Helen
Mary
Marie
Margaret
Beatrice

Anything which doesn't start with a vowel or end with an A.

Ahh haha, so it is a quadruple A, not sure why I never noticed! I think I am clutching at straws with that one as Anna is my favourite at the moment but OH likes Ailsa as it was his mothers middle name, who is no longer with us. Thought I could squeeze both in. He is also very keen on Alice (I'm a little on the fence about it) and I wondered if it sounds too similar to Lewis to use or do you think it would be ok?

Thank you for all the middle name suggestions Smile

I love Anna and Alice. We didn't choose Alice because I unthinkingly sung "Alice, who the fuck is Alice?" ('Living next door to Alice' by Smokie was one of the standard nightclub kicking out songs of my youth) and then 'Alice the camel's when we were considering it and put DH right off because of the earworm Blush

I still like it though.

I don't like Ella at all, because although I know perfectly well it is a real name, and a perfectly normal one, it looks like a pronoun to me, like elle (she).

Alisa is pretty but there are so many very similar names. In my daughter's class there is an Alyssa, an Alisa, an Alysia and an Alexia, and I can never remember which is which though they all seem like pleasant, smily girls. I'd think there is a likelihood of constantly correcting people who think she has one of the similar names - not only for you but later for her whenever she meets new people, or even when she's known people a while but not communicated with them in writing.

I think Anna Ailsa is lovely though if you prefer to break up the quadruple As, maybe putting another middle name in the middle could work like Anna Joy Ailsa, Anna Willow Ailsa, Anna Ceres Ailsa. I do think Anna Alice Ailsa would be a bit much and probably a bit of a tongue twister for you to call all out when needed Grin

Icklepup · 06/09/2018 15:08

I think Lewis sounds too similar to Alice, I like Anna.

AnyaMoondial · 06/09/2018 17:03

Alice and Lewis look ok written down but when I say them to myself they do seem very rhymey.

Anna is the best girl name ever imo.

Ricekrispie22 · 07/09/2018 05:30

Anna Elise
Ella Grace

Sungura · 07/09/2018 06:49

Lewis Carroll and Alice in Wonderland. Don't do that. Haha. They all do go with your son's name. Ailsa is the nicest choice imo since you like it and it has a special meaning for your OH. Ailsa Louise is especially nice because Louise is the feminine version of your son's name. Very sweet.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/09/2018 08:44

Lewis and Anna Eloise.

bridgetreilly · 07/09/2018 08:46

Ailsa Caroline
Ailsa Margaret
Ailsa Penelope
Ailsa Phoebe
Ailsa Danielle

kenandbarbie · 07/09/2018 09:34

I like Anna best too!

Thistles24 · 07/09/2018 23:39

I LOVE Alisa- it’s what my fictional daughter would be called!

wizzler · 07/09/2018 23:48

Anna Joy sounds lovely.
