Baby due in feb, we really like Sienna but I’m starting to find i hear it too often.
DD1 has a very unusual Italian name.

Could you suggest some alternatives?

Sienna was ruined by Hollyoaks for me! Aurora and Giorgia are beautiful.

Not sure how well these names work in Italy now; but I used to have a lovely Italian teacher named Eliana. Also, if ds had been a girl we really liked Maria.

Synecdoche · 04/09/2018 09:48

I know a lovely Alessandra

Alessandra is a stunning name. I also love Valentina (but personally only if you have Italian roots).

Maddalena
Maria Novella

Italian names I love:

Eleonora
Allegra
Angelica
Valentina
Viola
Serena
Greta
Cosima
Isotta
Carlotta
Florinda
Ginevra
Marina
Ambra
Livia
Gaia
Rosalba
Viviana

Some of those are a bit old-ladyish in Italy these days, I don't know whether that matters to you.

I think I’m warming to Valentina - especially if it’s born on Valentine’s Day!
But I think it would just get shortened to Val or Tina

Alessandra is a lovely name but probably too similar to DD1.

I do like Stella - I liked it for dd1 but DH not keen.

He’s part Italian and we have an Italian surname.

Valentina in Italy gets shortened to Vale (Va-lay) which is nicer. Or how about V/ Vivi /Vala/ Nina/Leni/Lina as diminutives? Tina or Val are more obvious shortenings unfortunately, but if you establish a nickname from early one you might be able to prevent them!

itssquidstella · 04/09/2018 17:08

Valentina is lovely. I like Lorenza too.

Tryagaintomorrow · 04/09/2018 17:08

Oooo. That’s helpful thanks.
Vale and leni are good options :)

Serafina

Tryagaintomorrow · 04/09/2018 19:10

Serafina “fina” was actually my first choice, but DH wasn’t so keen.
Maybe can change his mind!

Vienna is cool too.
