Hello! My husband and I are considering "Juno" for our little boy--we know it has a feminine association but that hasn't phased us too much... but some opinions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Roman goddess.

Jaguarana · 27/08/2018 00:40

Errmm, it doesn't just have 'a feminine association', it really is a girls' name. Why you'd consider doing that to a boy I have no idea. I suggest you think again.

Ojoj1974 · 27/08/2018 00:42

I too think of a goddess. I'm afraid it's a girls name in my mind

It's a nice name, but most would think it is a girl's name. And I say that as a mum of a little boy with quite a feminine-sounding name!

DC2018 · 27/08/2018 00:50

I think of the film , Juno about a pregnant teenager with that name. It's definitely more a girls name. How about Jude, Julian Arlo or Enzo instead?

GeorgiaPorgia · 27/08/2018 01:10

Err, it doesn't have 'feminine associations' - it IS a girls' name.

Juno is literally the Head roman goddess - queen of the gods.

That's like saying that 'Elizabeth' or 'Victoria' have 'feminine associations'.

Seriously - don't do it. Kids can be cruel. Save it for any future daughter you might have.

Sophronia · 27/08/2018 02:19

How about Jude or Jago instead?

Takfujimoto · 27/08/2018 02:35

Just call him Jane and be done with it.

woodfires · 27/08/2018 02:37

It is a girls name, the name of a goddess. Don't do that to him.

woodfires · 27/08/2018 02:41

She is the goddess of marriage and woman and a noted mother herself.
There are names like Lyndsey, Robin and Valentine which sound more feminine but aren't. This isn't one of those names.

villainousbroodmare · 27/08/2018 03:40

A female name. I wouldn't.

BrutusMcDogface · 27/08/2018 03:43

Girls name.

I agree- call him Jude or arlo. How about Jesse?

Topseyt · 27/08/2018 03:47

It is definitely a girl's name. Why would you give it to a boy.

Also, see the link given above.

TroubledLichen · 27/08/2018 03:49

It’s a girl’s name. And roman goddess aside most people probably associate it with the film about teenage pregnancy. Just no.

Pemba · 27/08/2018 04:00

It's a female name, end of. Why?

ReginaPhalange89 · 27/08/2018 06:21

Yeah, what they said ^ . I wouldn't do it

CryptoFascist · 27/08/2018 06:23

Lovey name for a girl/woman.
It is a girl's name for certain, as pp suggest, how about Jude, or Hugo?

Mosret · 27/08/2018 06:23

Girls name sorry!

Margaurette · 27/08/2018 06:39

I assume you're joking, OP?

lunar1 · 27/08/2018 06:42

Just don't, you are giving your son a name he has to live with.

AtticaRose · 27/08/2018 08:02

Yes, it's a Roman goddess. It's like calling a boy Venus - just because there are boys' names ending in -us doesn't make it an ok male name!

Jude
Jago
Jason
Jove
Hector
Orion

wildewillow · 27/08/2018 09:08

I actually quite like it for a boy. It is definitely a girls name though. You could spell it Juneau though after the city.

RedDwarves · 27/08/2018 10:05

Juno is the Roman Queen of the Gods. Don't be so bloody daft. It's as feminine as Lily.
