I love it. Beautiful and underused Smile

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/08/2018 18:36

Nice but Amy Childs used it and ruined it for me...also
I’m slightly of the era where I hear Polly I think Pocket.

Spartak · 25/08/2018 18:37

Put the kettle on.....

pinkhorse · 25/08/2018 18:37

I love it

Yogagirl123 · 25/08/2018 18:38

I love it, one of my favourite girls names.

MikeUniformMike · 25/08/2018 18:38

I really like it. It sounds strong and confident. It's pretty without being twee.

As this is mumsnet, you need to have a proper name on the BC, just in case Polly ends up being an eminent surgeon or barrister, so I suggest Leopoldina or Poldarkina.

WhereIsMyDressingGown · 25/08/2018 18:39

Awful. Sorry.

Really whiny and wet.

DramaAlpaca · 25/08/2018 18:39

I like it.

MrsMolehillMountain · 25/08/2018 18:39

I was a Polly Pocket obsessive as a child but when I hear Polly now, I don't think 'pocket'...if that reassures you!
I like it but it's quite frilly

BasilFaulty · 25/08/2018 18:40

Yes, like a PP has just said it's pretty but not twee. That's a good way of describing it. For some reason I find it quite different to the likes of Poppy, Daisy & Maisie which I find very cutesy. Polly is stronger & I can't put my finger on exactly why.

RachelAnneJ · 25/08/2018 18:48

I really don't like it. Wet and weak.

RoseMartha · 25/08/2018 18:49

It is ok

kenandbarbie · 25/08/2018 18:57

Well it does remind me of Polly put the kettle on. I would prefer it as a nn for something also sorry!

ReginaPhalange89 · 25/08/2018 19:04

I like it ! It's lovely

AnyaMoondial · 25/08/2018 19:04

Love it. Would’ve used it myself but couldn’t convince dh.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/08/2018 19:08

Someone up thread mentioned Poppy, Daisy, Maisie, to me Polly is similar, it's like all kids have a slight variation of the same name, and all are twee.

GreyGardens88 · 25/08/2018 19:10

Definitely not a cool name

GVmama · 25/08/2018 19:16

I love it, I use it as a nickname for my DD. The nickname came from Polly Pocket as she was tiny when she was born and is still small and dainty.

HappyReading · 25/08/2018 19:17

I love it. I know a beautiful 4yr Polly.

gower4 · 25/08/2018 19:21

Polly is a diminutive of Mary, if you want to be precise on the birth certificate Grin

blueskiesandforests · 25/08/2018 19:23

I like Polly but would use it - parrot/ pretty Polly (potential teasing especially if she's not conventionally pretty or has a plump or spotty teenage phase) and put the kettle on spring to mind instantly.

blueskiesandforests · 25/08/2018 19:24
  • but wouldn't
MikeUniformMike · 25/08/2018 19:27

Leopoldina known as Polly is from a novel (Love in a Cold Climate). I know a Leopoldina known as Leopoldina, and I think it's lovely, but Polly on its own is quite enough.
I like Mary too.

OddBoots · 25/08/2018 19:28

It is sweet.

Funnily enough I got an Email from Argos this morning announcing the big return of Polly Pocket.
