Opinions on John, Johnny or Jonny please! Perhaps with Eric as a middle name? Like the idea of Johnny the most at the moment but opinions welcomed please :)

I would go Jonathan Eric - known as Johnny

DickensianHysteric · 24/08/2018 20:47

I'd put John on the birth certificate, but call him Johnny day to day.

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/08/2018 20:47

John nn Johnny

cptartapp · 24/08/2018 21:05

John.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 24/08/2018 21:41

I prefer John or Jonathan with Eric, using Johnny or Jono as a nickname.

Sunflower321 · 24/08/2018 22:00

Isn't Johnny a condom?

wheezing · 24/08/2018 22:01

Johnny is a (lovely) nickname. John on BC, and then use Johnny if you want.

Justgivemesomepeace · 24/08/2018 22:01

Jonathan known as Jonny

Singlenotsingle · 24/08/2018 22:02

Jonathan. Then he can decide which short form he wants. Not Eric though!

Mum2jenny · 24/08/2018 22:03

John on birth certificate, potential nickname Johnny

DramaAlpaca · 24/08/2018 22:04

Either John known as Johnny, or Jonathan known as Jonny. I wouldn't have the short forms on the BC.

MrsMolehillMountain · 24/08/2018 22:06

John.
Johnny is too nicknamey and he'll be teased about condoms.

Belindabauer · 24/08/2018 22:06

John with Johnny as a nickname.

viques · 24/08/2018 22:07

Jonathan Eric flows better than John Eric IMO.

TroubledLichen · 24/08/2018 22:10

Another vote for Jonathan on the birth certificate. John is I suppose a name in it’s own right so that’s not terrible, In my opinion Johnny/Jonny is too nicknamey (and slang for condom) to be a good choice as a stand alone name.

AtiaoftheJulii · 24/08/2018 22:15

I've never heard anyone under 40 call a condom a johnny, so I wouldn't let that bother me. I've also known a few Johnny's, and don't remember any condom comments. I like Johnny Smile

I prefer John to Jonathan. So I'd go for John nn Johnny.

CarriMarie · 24/08/2018 22:19

Jonathan Eric, nn Jonny.

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/08/2018 22:22

jonny is another name for a condom if you're Scottish lol
But obviously a nn for John. I'd probably use John or Johnathan on the BC

pouraglasshalffull · 24/08/2018 22:23

Please don't just call him John. Its such an granddad name.

Jonathon or Johnny is much nicer. Just don't spell it jonny, its how you spell the slang for condom lol

pouraglasshalffull · 24/08/2018 22:24

Just to add, I'm well under 40 and everyone in my school called it a jonny, so it's still very relevant

twosunbathingdogs · 24/08/2018 22:31

I have a Jonathan (20) known as Jon to family, but often called Jonny by friends (they don’t make the condom association)

Alloverthefrontpage · 24/08/2018 22:39

Yes papa?

ScreamingValenta · 24/08/2018 22:40

Jonathan, NN Jonty.

MikeUniformMike · 24/08/2018 22:43

I love John nn Johnny and like Eric but would go for Jonathan Eric nn Jonny as it runs better.

Rebecca36 · 24/08/2018 22:45

Jonny is a diminutive of Jonathan. I do like the name Jonathan, know a few, and they are frequently known as Jon or Jonny.
